So hard to be back here
I just don't want to be back here, this tiny island. If not for tomorrow's flight, I would gladly stay back in KL (even without my laptop).
I made a last-minute decision to go to KL. Just as I was preparing for my flight to Beijing I told Fong Yeen I'll meet her and Shirline in KL on Wednesday night.
Two hours after arriving from Beijing, I was already on the bus to KL.
It's been a long while since I had so much fun with my friends.
I'm so happy for Shirline and Matt. Matt's a great guy and he seems to be so comfortable with her family and friends. And in less than a week here, Matt's already picked up the lahs and lohs and aiyahs.
I had the greatest time with Shirline, Yeenie and Shirline's siblings. So, so, so much fun. Which made it so much harder to leave them and come back here argh :(
And I must thank them for a surprise they gave me. I felt like the biggest idiot when the truth was out but it was a pleasant surprise nonetheless :) So blessed to have them in my life.
And I'll miss all of them so very much....

One more day
Never thought I still have exams to sit for when I graduated from uni. :(
After tomorrow, I will have 2 offdays and then have to go on my supernumerary flight to Beijing. Then it's all up to me (and luck) already. I still like to work in Economy because it's all very straightforward but I must rise up to the challenge and volunteer to work in Biz until I'm really good at it.
My friend Ferinna from uni who came to this company with me suddenly brought up the most bizarre incident which landed us both this job. Looking back, it was indeed a weird encounter between me and her. I seldom talked to her in uni, and one day I saw her helping a friend out at a cupcake stall in The Curve and I actually went up to her to start a most unexpected conversation. And that landed us both here............................... If that incident had never happened, we would never have been here today.
I say, if that wasn't fate, I don't know what else it was.
We both wanted to go to join a particular Middle Eastern airline so much and this company was actually our second choice... I remember calling her later to apologize like crazy because I had to disappoint her when I chose to give up going to UAE. Then a few days later she texted me and told me she's also going to give the UAE airline a pass because of personal issues. Today we're both very happy with our choice and can't believe that in just a blink of an eye, we're almost graduating from Business Class training!
I'm so excited to be starting at the bottom of the (Business Class) food chain again. Looking forward to all the ticking-off by senior crew for being such a sotong, yippiee, can't wait to start.

I'm A(H1N1) free
(I'm only quoting my doctor).
I'm also very angry at my bowel and kidneys for working without togetherness. *roll eyes*
I've been having information overload. Everything makes sense in class, but there's so much information and I am not sure when I'm out there doing mah thang if I can dig out all the relevant info (and tips) that I have been given in the classroom from the secluded dark nooks of the brain.
I'm also looking forward to going to Matt Moran's restaurant in Sydney... hehehehehe. Apparently *whisper whisper whisper* I'm sorry I can't reveal it here!!! Alfred Portale's Gotham Bar & Grill (NYC) too :)
Tomorrow and the day after will be long days. A lot of makan-ing though, cz we're gonna learn how to heat Business Class food and how to present it as per fine-dine restaurants. I think there's wine-tasting (again...) too. Many role-plays and my instructor will give us scenarios typically seen in Business Class ("I WANT MY HERALD TRIBUNE!", "I'm sorry sir, we've run out of HT. If you don't mind, would you give me some...". "WHAT KINDA AIRLINE IS THIS?! YOU CAN'T EVEN GIVE ME HT!".............................. -_-' or not so typical but not unseen "Do you take me for a dustbin?" "No sir, why do you say that?" "THEN WHY ARE YOU SERVING ME RUBBISH?!")
....
My trainer told us God has already reserved us all (cabin crew) a place in Heaven for these stuff that we deal with.

Hate this part right here
I have friends coming back to BP and Singapore from near and far (as near as Serdang and as far away as Calgary) and I have no idea how to plan my offdays. Where should I be? Stay put in SG or go back to BP?? And what about KL? I must see Shirline before she heads back to the other North America that nobody really talks about... also must see Yoke Yin before she heads back to Galway... why are these people here for merely 2 weeks!!
Not to mention too that the great S.G. sale is coming up and I think my sis and mum have intentions to come here for that... and then I have long flights which means I'll be away for long periods of time. Did I also mention that I really want to go back to see Hsin Ching whom I've not met up with since........................................... wtf 6 months ago?
Screwed up world
and, the world is always waiting to see someone fall.

Off the top of my fat head, I can already think of 3 more positive-sounding ways to put it than this.
Sad, sad world.
The sky is gonna fall
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish it was but I know it wasn't!!!!
The bathroom scale wasn't lying, and I'm as fat as never before!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
No wonder the damn uniform's been looking so odd on me the last week! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We create our own destiny
A happily-ever-after story might hold something new for the two. But I do not intend to include the male lead in the next chapter, or any chapters hereafter.
I love you came too late.

How long will I last
And today I'm suppose to be on Standby and I knew there's no chance I was going to get a long flight because I've to go back for training next week. Somehow, of all the crew on standby, they had to activate me for a pretty tough flight. It is an overnight turnaround - duty starts 6 p.m. later and ends at 6 a.m. the next morning. Little wonder why I chose to stay up till now 5.24 a.m. doing nothing but watching dramas and sitcoms so that I can sleep til 4 p.m. and have enough energy to go for a war. Small war, compared to the one I was in 2 days before. Still a war, nonetheless.
Then it will be business class training next week, and for the two consecutive flights that I, the freshie, will have after the training, I know Business class will be packed almost to the brim. For those two cities, I know it just will be.
Good luck to me.
If Adam and Eve were Chinese, we would still be in paradise
because they would have ignored the apple and eaten the snake.
No brainer
A man in Germany discovered the dangers of driving an open-top car when an envelope containing 23,000 euros (£20,600) blew off the back seat.
The notes rained down on the fast-moving motorway traffic behind him.
Police closed the road in both directions for half an hour to search for the missing money. All but 3,000 euros was recovered.
The man, 23, was test-driving an Audi convertible near Hanover, and the money was intended to pay for the car.
The police have warned the public against scavenging along the motorway for the missing notes, pointing out that it would be illegal to keep them.
And things could get even more expensive for the German test-driver. The police are considering charging him for the cost of the search.
The motorway closure caused long tailbacks in both directions.

The problem with my speakers
It was a birthday present from my school mates 2 years ago and it worked perfectly with the Creative soundcard in my PC. It served me well until I moved to Singapore and out of a tight budget and pure vanity, I bought a cheap and nice laptop which does not allow me to change anything in it - not even the soundcard. It's like part of the motherboard or some crap like that. In other words, it's etched in its fate that this laptop will forever have this soundcard and this soundcard only.
It's of course more inferior to the Creative one I had, and it was obvious when I plugged the speakers in. I was about to pull my hair out man, honestly.
After more than a year, I think I've tolerated enough. Shouldn't be frustrated with the speakers anymore, because it's not the speakers' fault that it sounds bad. It's just bad marriage with the soundcard.
I think I need to get muchhhh better speakers than the ATP3 to overcome the evil that this soundcard has brought with it. Should I go back to Cambridge Soundworks/Creative, my first love?
Recommendations, people?
T-Mobile ad
I stumbled upon this video while surfing aimlessly for junk on the web...
It is kinda like something I just posted the other day (but this ad was made before the other vid)... interesting in its own way.
I wanna see it happen in my side of the world!!
I'm watching it over and over just to see how those kay-si people blend in. I even saw a guy in a luminous vest among them - you probably would have thought he was just the security (or garbage) guy!
Catch the making of this video here!
No drama
She almost got married, broke up, and then has been on a string of dates her mum and aunts arranged for her. All of those turned out weird and funny.
Her breakup from her ex is messy, and pwhoar...... her life's like E! TV. I just sat there all night listening to her stories (and laughing at the sheer oddness of Singaporean men) - and I have nothing to tell myself.
Maybe it's a good thing.

Home of the Champions
The tour is only 12 pounds and there are about 20-30 of us in each group? The club runs fourty-two tours a day, every non-match day. *ka-ching!*
The stadium is very grand. Big, red and beautiful. And I can't describe the feeling of being THERE - you'll know when you are there for yourself.
I used to stay up to watch their European games and then go straight to school after that. I also sometimes skipped school because I was too tired to go hahaha. All to cheer them on, and I think I almost cried when I saw them win the Treble in 1999. Anyway these days I hardly have the time to watch their games anymore. :(
Under the stands is a lot of things. It's quite amazing what's underneath all that. We were shown the abilities suite (for the disabled), the players lounge (where the players hang out until Ferguson comes to knock on their door 1.5 hours before the match for a briefing in the changing room), the changing room, the tunnel (also where interviews are carried out), and we were shown where the studios for MUTV was, where the commentators sit, where the wives and girlfriends sit, where Victoria and her kids sat (extra high security), I sat where subs sit, etc. It was a very informative tour. For example, sandwiched between the stands (at Level 7) around the stadium are private boxes. 70+ of them, if I'm not mistaken, and each box sits 8. To rent one for a season is 76,000 pounds. With a 10-year waiting list.
-_-''
*ka ching ka ching!*
(This makes those in the boxes only 8% of the total stadium crowd but they generate 35% of the revenues for each match)
And when we were shown where the disabled people* sit in the stadium (on the East Stand), my tour guide Don told us this incident when Ryan Giggs scored a goal once against which team I forget, this guy on a wheelchair suddenly jumped up in celebration. He suddenly realized what he had just done and his caretaker was like, FACEPALM. The cameras (106 of them around the stadium) had caught him and he was ejected immediately. The man has since been banned from stadium grounds. There is also an Abilities Suite for the disabled in the stadium, a place for them to hang out until transport comes to pick them up an hour and a half after the game. In the suite are TVs, computers with internet and Playstations.
* The disabled are able to watch the games for free. They may be accompanied by one caretaker, and the caretaker also comes in without having to pay for a ticket.
We were also shown where the opposition supporters sit. For every EPL game, 1000 free tickets are given to the opposition team. For European games, 10,000 tickets are given free to the opposition.
Don also told us what it was like in a typical match day for the players. He gave us pretty detailed information, even to the hotel where they put up at the night before a game!
Next to the players' changing room was the visitors' changing room. One has to go through this small path to get to the tunnel to come on to the pitch. There are posters of United's players on both sides of the walls. There's one poster right in front of the visitors' room (one which they will see the moment they open the door) which is a mockery to them...
This poster:-
Neh-neh-neh-neh-neh~ :Þ
The tunnel...
We were also briefed on the rather tragic history of the club. The stadium was bombed during the World War and had to be entirely reconstructed, except for one part which had a staircase leading to the dugout. Also there's a newly built tunnel, called the Munich Tunnel to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Munich air crash.
:(:( The Munich air crash is probably the saddest chapter in United's history.
There was an area in the United Museum that was entirely dedicated to the crash. People get really quiet in there, taking in the faces of the players and reading the news articles that broke the news.
Here are some of the trophies they've won (and this is only one side of the wall in that room!):
The tour ends in the Megastore. Nike paid Manchester United 303 million pounds for the store, the largest sports merchandise store in a stadium. *ka-ching ka-ching ka-ching!* Everything in that store is thus owned by Nike, even the non-jersey items e.g. pillows, bears, etc.
This is the Treble room... each glass panel represents one month and has the dates and scoreline of each match in that month. From August right until May. Between the glass panels were pictures and stories of how they won certain games, on transfers and any incident that's worth mentioning basically.
After all that walking, the shrivelled stomach has to be fed...
The END of the tour.
I was already careless enough to leave my scarf in Singapore, I had to forget to take my umbrella out with me in Manchester. STEWWWWWPID to the max! And then what happened? My friend Eileen and I were caught in a hail as we left the stadium. Initially it started to drizzle as we got out of the sheltered area. We were thinking, 'ok, gotta walk fast before we get wet...' then it started to drizzle more heavily. We were really getting wet and so we broke into a run. The distance between the tram station and the stadium is quite far, about 12-15 minutes walk. So we ran and ran and then I started to get peltered with hail. That didn't cross my mind of course and I was thinking wth was that, so painful! Then Eileen noticed things bounching off the road surface and then shouted, "F**K, IT'S HAIL!!"
I took out my brand new MUFC cap and used it to protect my dear head (so that Eileen doesn't hear the noise it makes when the ice bits hit wtf). When we finally got to the tram station, we ran into a telephone booth to seek shelter - and then the drizzle and the hail was gone... Typical Mancunian weather! The good thing about the hail was that if it had all come down as water we would have been soaking wet. I promise I will never leave the hotel without an umbrella in Manchester ever again.
Oh crap
And I also packed the new tunic I bought a few days ago, cz I need mum to sew on a button for me (I'm hopeless at sewing).
Then it hit me: No wonder the fabric print is so familiar. My grandmother has a blouse of a very similar print! My sis will let me hear no end to this.
Crap.

Evil as goodness
I bought all that in a day and a half.
I think it's either I'm a freak or Primark is seriously cheap.
A top for 3 pounds, a dress for 10, 2 dresses for 6, a GENUINE LEATHER JACKET for 8 (reduced from 25) wtf!?
Could have been many pieces more, but enough was enough. I was blowing almost the entire allowance for this flight.
And here's my new joy :)
My name/surname and the iconic 10, shirt number of Sir Bobby Charlton/Dennis Law/Ruud van Nistelrooy/David Beckham/Wayne Rooney.
Ever since Kokum told me my surname is a sound (cz you only say 'nnggggg' don't even need to flex your jaw!) I've been feeling paranoid about my surname. And now the name on the shirt looks really weird.
Hmm, a thought just came to mind: A Sri Lankan, other than the Perreras and the de Silvas, will never get to have his last name on a jersey - it wouldn't fit.
Trying to understand a side of a woman
Still wondering.
I know of a cousin's XXXL collection of clothes through a few pictures she posted on her blog, and I cannot for my life imagine how she is planning to wear all of it. I bet she does wonder too - what will she do with all those clothes....
I think all girls wonder that too. Yet we still end up buying!!!!
You, the guilty cousin, you know who you are!

Theatre of Dreams
The experience was nothing short of amazing :) I was definitely one of the happiest persons in the world that afternoon...
More of it later!
Where do you think I went
Something in this sleepy part of Manchester (and is part of the picture) got me all hyped up.
What could it be?

24 hours later
*In Economy class, of course.
Reporting for flight was at 7.05 a.m. for the usual briefing, departure was at 9.05 a.m., flight time was 13 hours plus, arrived into London at 3.30 p.m. local time, flight to Manchester at 5.50 p.m. and then arrived at 6.30 p.m.
That, my friend, totals 19 hours plus, and as I sat and slept and ate, my inflight and onboard meal allowance kept ringing in $.
You know I had a very hard time deciding on the title for this post...
It was either '24 hours later' or the more super-excited 'Finally in England!!' but then the latter would make me sound like a mountain tortoise.... I've to be cool right.
BUT I'M REALLY FINALLY IN ENGLAND!
Can't tell you how excited I really am.
Like as a kid we all knew who Queen E was, where England is (everybody wanted to grow up and then go to England for whatever reasons), we all loved Paddington Bear (but I thought he's from Peru?), and i don't know .... there's just a fascination with all things British, isn't it? I swear you did at some point in your childhood.
Anyway the 13 hours of flight seemed to pass so fast! I've never realized how well this airline has been feeding it's passengers until today. Barely 3 hours after our breakfast trays were cleared, we were having lunch again. Then snacks before landing. This is how we, cabin crew, get fat. Because behind the scenes, after feeding the passengers, we start to eat all that food. All that extra ice-cream, extra main course, extra snacks, extra chips and chocolates, extra breadroll...
I didn't sleep much, probably just 2 hours, because honestly I really dislike the new economy class seats. They don't recline as much as the old ones so I wasn't very comfortable where I was.
We all know Heathrow is (depending on how you look at it) the busiest airport in the world... Today I saw for myself just how busy it is. As we were about to land, we circled a few times to get clearance. As we waited for our turn, I saw two other planes circling as well. How cool is that!!! Above the clouds, you usually see nothing else but now you see two other planes not too far away.
When we finally landed and were turning off the runway, I saw another plane coming in from behind to land. Then I looked in another direction where the other runway is, planes were taking off one after another perpetually one minute apart. It is damn amazing. So I turned to look at the runway where we landed again, and this time that plane behind us had just landed and behind it was another plane coming in!
Just watching the planes come in and go off on the two runways kept me occupied until we arrived at the gate.
May I also declare that London, Viewed From The Top (erhem), is definitely
When we arrived at our hotel, they weren't expecting us and we had to wait *sweat*.
That's because this particular weird pattern that I'm doing started only yesterday - yes, my entire set of crew are the first to be doing this. I suspect the company is doing this to cut short our stay in Manchester. While for most of the Manchester flights we get 2 clear days here, there was one particular flight leaving on a particular day which gave us 3 (or was it 4?) clear days because Manchester isn't a daily flight. So to cut cost (hotel and our allowance) they figured it's cheaper to send us in via London closer to the day of our departure.
And guess what - I can't even believe it myself - there's a Bose sound system in my room, again!! My last flight was to Delhi (and I knew my room's equipped with Bose) so I brought a Maksim CD along. When I saw the Bose speakers in my room again today, I almost couldn't believe it... and this one had a familiar metal plate sticking out - to dock my iPod.
ahhhhhhhhhh!!!
Yes, my iPod's docked and playing; and I'm beginning to have new hopes of finishing the song-library cycle very soon :))
I've got something extremely exciting planned for tomorrow (I think most of you can guess what it is) and I can't wait!!!!
One downside to this trip though - my room is next to our crew lounge. God forbids that there be drinkers/gamblers among the 3 sets of our crew here now. Or it's good luck to me.

Dear Timothy II
OK THERE U GO, Timothy, you got your Part 2!
So you were back in Malaysia. I'm sorry I couldn't make it back to see you. I heard yours was a whirlwind trip anyway, with a schedule so pack you could put Barack Obama to shame.
I don't know when I can finally meet up with you next. Now that I have stopped flying to Perth, it seems like it's going to be a long time before I see you again.

That means no more trips to the WA Botanical Gardens (I only saw a fraction of the park remember?) and no more making fun of the 'boob' tree.

We also can't meet random old ladies and start chatting them up anymore. No more chatting about music and movies and the latest dramas. And because I can't stay over at your place anymore, I won't get to savour your breakfast pancakes. I also wonder if your cooking skills have improved?
It's also a pity that I won't get a chance to ride in your new Mazda (when you eventually get it). My memory will only have you and the good old rockin' Swift.
I am dying to see what your new pad looks like. It sounds so wonderful. After hearing about your housemates, I am only too eager to get to know them. Unfortunately, that's not going to happen.
Maybe the next time you come back it will be for your wedding with Jas. I bolded the 'a' for your sake. Hope that it is soon, and hopefully I'll get to meet you and Jas then.

Take care.
Yours sincerely,
Ann Gie.
FOR GOD'S SAKE LAH TIMOTHY SO CHEAP TO FLY HOME ON AIRASIA U BETTER DO IT MORE OFTEN!
Bummer
*kicks chair*
How much more frustrating can it get? I'm awfully sleepy and yet I half-dragged myself to Orchard Road because I had important things to see and buy.
1. Check out the Ferragamo Varina Flats (Paragon)
I recently felt like I don't really want this pair of shoes anymore, so I went to the boutique to try them on. Concluded that I won't be buying it anymore.
2. Check out the new grey and pink of LV Monogram denim (Ngee Ann City)
Grey's nice. Slightly in grey is awesome. But I waited so long for someone to assist me, I left. I mean COME ON, the LV store has a queue on weekends, they can't hire more than 5 sales assistants?
3. Visit Lee Hwa Jewellery (Wisma Atria)
I am not comfortable with the diamonds on my ring so I went to the gallery, hoping there's another of the same design. I was told there's one in another outlet (which will be sent down to Wisma) so I can only go take a look at it after I come back from Manchester.
3. Buy a pair of sandals (Ngee Ann City)
I saw this pair of sandals from Guess in Abu Dhabi (365 Dirhams) and decided that I'll get it in Singapore since I knew it was going to be cheaper. Guess how much it is selling for here? SGD115. I will tell you again, don't shop in the UAE.
Anyway it didn't look nice on me. So, nothing accomplished so far.
4. Visit Zara/Decide on a coat (Wheelock Place/Ngee Ann City)
I tried on this MNG coat in Abu Dhabi which I liked like 7/10. I saw another in United Colors of Benetton in Paris and I also liked that one, maybe even more. So today I had to visit Zara to see if they have nicer coats. Unfortunately all Zara has are linen coats - what's wrong with them? Linen's an awful material for coats! Spent ages at MNG and decided that the cut is not that nice, so I went on a hunt for UCB - and I went from mall to mall and there was no UCB in sight!
Guess where I finally found one? Marina Square. Freaking on another MRT line, had to walk so far from the MRT station, ^!&!@*
The worst part of this whole trip was hunting for the UCB boutique. I left the house without my phone, smart, so I couldn't summon up the web browser to locate a store. In the end I had to ask a sales assistant at the kids UCB in Takashimaya.
Then, finally standing in the UCB store, I realized that this store is too darn small and they did not have the coat I want. In fact, they only have 2 coats in the entire store - one in yellow, the other in orange. Why would I want to walk around looking like a banana or an orange!!! OK, fine, there are nice yellow and orange coats and it's bright and cheery - but I'm just not in that mood alrite. I really wanted to vomit blood man, after coming all that distance to see such a pathetic store.
I also saw this nice windbreaker in Zara at Wheelock Place. At $199, it was pretty expensive for something so thin. At that time I hadn't yet discovered that I didn't want the MNG coat and that there's no UCB coat in this island. In fact, that was the first thing I saw because I hit Wheelock Place first. I went to Zara in Ngee Ann City after that, and this windbreaker wasn't there. When I got to Marina Square, after finally knowing that there's no damn coat to get, I was so fed up that I decided I'm going to get that windbreaker just so that I will feel like I've done something useful with my time today.
Turns out that this boutique doesn't carry the windbreaker too! OMG!!! *bangs head*
I refused to travel back to Orchard Road just for it, so in the end I bought a tunic.
A TUNIC!
I don't even wear tunics!
So little time
It finally rained - and it rained early this morning so can you just imagine how nice it is to sleep in?
Plus, I did an overnight flight 2 nights ago, didn't sleep when I got back and then went out to meet my girlfriends for dinner... so when I came back to my room the bed was the sexiest thing I had ever seen in my life and I wanted it, so badly.
Just a few problems though - I had makeup to remove, mails to check, facebook to read (I still have to check it even when I'm in a life-and-death situation), and a very sticky me to shower.
Then I woke up an hour ago, way too early (how do you guys do 9-5?!), just to do some laundry and read the news/blog this as I have a simple breakfast. All this nonsense so that I can be at Orchard Road by 11 a.m. omgfml my life is overruled by shopping.
But it's not like I'm gonna be there the whole day - I just have to get there early and be back on the East side before the rush hour. Then it's time to pack! *groan*
(It's more like unpacking and repacking because I did not finish unpacking from my Abu Dhabi trip yikes.)
AND MAN. UNITED IS OFF TO ROMA!!!!!

The Internet rocks
FOR EXAMPLE: My company issues circulars every week. It could be updates on standard operating procedures, security updates, new products, ANYThInG really. We may obtain such information either from the printed copies which are obtainable at the training centre or at the control centre in the airport; or we can read them up on our e-portal. Simple right. You can do it at the comforts of your own home, and at any time you like - so long as you read it. Because if you don't, you might get into a lot of trouble (if you happen to be on check and someone anal decides to ask you what is the latest circular) and you could also become the weakest link in a job which requires plenty of teamwork. So instead of having to go to the airport/training centre on your dayoff, you can just read up wherever you are. That's the beauty of the Internet. But when someone decides to not use such convenience to his benefit and to continue to be ignorant, that's when I want to kick him off the plane.
An EXAMPLE'S EXAMPLE: On my flight back today I had to work with this guy who's been flying for almost a year. One of the things which he did that cheesed me off pertains to a subject that has been highlighted in our circulars many times. This subject was brought up at least 3 times in the last year because it is a serious matter - we even had to make a video of it to remind crew on this matter, and we had to watch it for a whole month during our pre-flight briefing at the end of last year. And today when I gently reminded him not to do so-and-so, he dared to ask me WHY, and said he wasn't aware of it. !&@*&!@*! That, on top of many other stupid things which he did, was really testing my patience. And hence I spoke to him minimally. No tolerance for such people.
And another reason why the internet rocks - haven't you already read about this? What else next, ....
.....ok I was going to say something more dramatic but I can't seem to come up with any. What can beat delivering a baby!!
OHhhh, I'm finally going to Manchester. That's the day after tomorrow. I'll be going as a passenger too! Usually, pax-ing duties require us to pass immigration in uniforms, change into civilian clothings onboard and then change back into uniforms before we land and pass immigration as cabin crew. This time, I'll be pax-ing all the way as a passenger and I'll even have my own ticket. I'll arrive in London first, and then switch to BA for my connecting flight to Manchester. Then I'll work back from Manchester 3 days later. Don't ask me why it's so complicated, I don't know too. Many crew were surprised too when they first heard of this pattern that I'm doing.
I thought I could go watch a Premier League game, but no such luck - I leave on the day MU plays Man. City. Why does this always happen to me?!
Nevertheless, a little bird told me Primark is an awesome place to shop... so I guess I should still be quite occupied.
p/s: Am I being kiasi or do you also think that Mexico is being too relaxed... First the government keeps telling the world that the flu's under control, it's in the declining phase blahblahblah... then the Mexicans are also irresponsible because the government gave them a week off to stay at home and then it turns out they were everywhere but at home! I also listened in horror as a lady proudly declared on BBC World News that there's nothing to worry about (she was among the hundreds of people on a beach in Mexico ) as the flu is in a declining phase and the virus is inactive under that heat on the beach. WTF?!

Giving thanks
Did you rest well last night?
Did you open your eyes this morning to see that you had kicked your comforter away again?
Did you walk straight to the bathroom when you got out of bed like it was the most natural thing to do?
Did you have to pee into a pan or look at your bed and go, "Damn I wet the bed again!"
Did you have running water, clean running water, the moment you turned the tap on to brush your teeth?
In under 1 minute, your answers to those questions reflected that you are one lucky ass. To even have internet to be reading this, you are already one of the richest people in the world.
Take some time out after reading this to say thank you to your God for just being able to see, being able to walk, and doing simpler things like being able to control your bladder, and have clean water to drink, have your loved ones with you, being able to love and be loved... just say thanks and be grateful to be given what you have.
Enjoy the last of your long weekend :)
I'm off to New Delhi!

I'm so sure there's a guy sitting next to her!! But she didn't seem to give a hoot about his presence. Maybe this is common in China.. ewww.....

Good news
2. Kon, my dear friend who wrote about his trip to Pune on my blog, has verbally quit his job when I last spoke to him. That is because he is about to embark on something he's wanted to do for a long time - writing about cars. He's has actually been writing for Autoworld for some months now, but now he is going to do it professionally. All the best dear Kon, I know what your ultimate goal is, and we're all waiting for that day to come true :)) how many people in this world can really say they got offered their dream job!!!
Readers, you heard about Mr. Kon Wai Luen here first!
3. I have renewed my license, peweeet!
