Finally! Tomorrow is the first of October. This last month has been exceptionally unlucky for me. Cannot wait for a new start to the last quarter of the year! Bad luck has been dogging me even until now, the last hours of the month.
(The most current: my flight arrived late - which rarely happens - and then I happen to be going home to BP. My cab was waiting extremely impatiently for me at Tampines... Rushed back and grabbed the only clothes on my bed. Which happens to be a long dress. And that's what I'll be wearing to meet up with a friend who is back from Bonn. Most likely in a kopitiam.. FML.)
Suayness, be gone!

A man's turn on
Went down to Airport Boulevard tonight with my housemates. There's one bridge there that runs across the highway.
That bridge connects Terminals 2 and 3 for the aircrafts, to be used when e.g. the plane is parked at T3 but needs to take-off from the runway at T2.
There have been a few occasions where I was on my way to/back from the airport when a plane taxies across on that bridge, right over my cab. It always feels quite unbelievable that the bridge holds so much weight and there are so many cars below it. More surreal is when the aircraft is an A380.
Some time ago, I noticed steps that lead to another bridge that runs parallel to that which the planes use.
I've been longing to go there to get a few good shots of the planes. It wasn't until tonight (and it was at midnight!) that we finally dragged our asses there.
Night shots aren't so good.
Between where we stood and where the planes taxied, there was another bridge for the use of the airport ground services like caterers, cleaners, push-back trucks, etc. Still, it was so cool to see the plane a kilometre away just slowly taxiing across.
We saw one Mandala aircraft, 3 SIA A330s and one SIA B777-300 (Whoo! Love! The sound of the B777 engines were unmistakable!). I was waving to one of the A330s and apparently one of the pilots waived back!! I didn't see it because the cockpit was very dark and I was busy trying to capture a good shot, but my housemate saw it. So cute right!!! A pilot waiving back :D
I meet pilots almost every other day and frankly, I've never felt so much love for a pilot as this before hahahaha. Whoever it was who waived back at me, I will never know.
While Julia and I were more eager to get good shots, my other housemate kept going, "OMG this is such a turn on!!!! How cool is that!!"
Every time a plane went past us or took off from the T2 runway, you can tell he was very fascinated.
I must go back there again one day to get day shots. The day shots will be waaaaaay better.

I need a sign!!!
Ah still couldn't sleep well last night.
I need a sign already, damnit!!!!
Will go out and enjoy this evening with my housemates....

It feels different now
I lost sleep the last two nights. Not funny because I needed sleep those two nights.
I know why I couldn't sleep well. It was something at the back of my mind and I kept waking up to check my email (in Shanghai, then last night in Singapore).
In the last 12 hours, though, I had come to realize that this isn't worth losing sleep over.
When my plane touched down in Singapore this evening after a short turnaround, I feel I owe it to myself for a good night's sleep tonight and for many more to come.
Some things are just not worth my time and thoughts... and my sleep will always come first.
p/s: I think this might be the best year since 2008! I'm hoping it'll be even better than 2008. We'll see :)

Big L
What is more wrong than a childish, self-pitying 30+ man is an immature 40 year-old man!!!
Went around telling MY AUNT that I didn't reply his email... and that prompted my aunt to write to me with the pretense that she's checking on me. Actually it was just to see if I was purposely ignoring his email. GEE!!!!!!!

Being cheap
A man's one gesture can show just how cheap he is.
---------------------------------------------------------------
On the other hand, I've resigned myself to the reality that no one want's to do the 'incredible' flight that I have to do on Friday. I've checked the load, and as expected, the flight is full and the wait list is probably the most I've ever seen in my life. The wings will not even be enough to accommodate all of them. WHY WHY WHY, WHY F1 WEEKEND?! I should just be flying off to somewhere tomorrow, LONDON MAYBE ERHEM, and not have to deal with people flying in from around the region to see the race and the fact that it's a Friday and Singaporeans are coming home for the weekend.
I hope that it's a peaceful Thursday for me to catch up with my books. Please, no drama today.

How could I leave this out - there were mooncakes onboard today! Every meal tray came with a small mooncake. So cute!!! Unfortunately they didn't taste that great. But still, great spirit :)

Self-pity
It is ok to be envious of others every now and then, but I can't stand people who wallow in self-pity. Not only is it self-destructive to one's personality and confidence, it hurts to be around such people.
And I have no tolerance for MEN who are like that... worse, MIDDLE-AGED and supposedly successful. This is draining....

I'd like to make a fur rug out of it
ARRRRGHHH THERE IS THIS ONE CAT ON MY STREET AND I WOULD LOVE TO DO MANY A TERRIBLE THINGS TO IT!
My street has always been a dog-street. No cats. Because cats and dogs don't mix and the dogs were doing a pretty good job and keeping things that way. That's how Jalan Temiang rolls.
Then a few months ago, my neighbour decided to be kind not only to the stray dogs (they give out food and shelter when it rains) but to cats too. So this cat comfortably settled in and has been helluva nuisance ever since.
Sure, once in a while the pack of dogs fight amongst themselves in the middle of the night but dogs are territorial and fights are bound to break out when there are a few of them.
CATS ON THE OTHER HAND do not need another in the clowder to make themselves heard.
The last time I came home, it purred non-stop through the morning, waking me up. Like wtf? Can't find food? Jump over the wall and work, damnit. Reminds me of a certain race. It's not like the neighbour took it in as a pet but it's so thick-skinned it keeps staying within their (and now mine) compound everyday.
This trip home, I've noticed that the cat is getting too comfortable with the neighbourhood.
At four-freaking-thirty-ay-am, I woke up because the cat was making weird sounds. At five a.m. it still was making those sounds. I swear it was masturbating if it could.
I NEED TO SLEEP! Seriously, when dogs fight, they get it over and done with - they sure don't put you out of sleep for half an hour in the middle of the night.
Then in the morning at 9 a.m. (it's my offday and I need to sleep) it was purring loudly, why, because it was outside my window. SERIOUSLY. If I could muster enough energy I would have thrown boiling water at it. Yeah, as if you didn't know already that since I started flying, sleep is the most precious thing to me in the world and I treasure my sleep fiercely!
THE ENTIRE TIME (it's effin' purring now from I don't know where) it has to make itself heard... It's a big cat - if hungry, go look for food. If horny, go look for mate. If lacking attention, take it elsewhere like Kampung Cinta Kucing. If sick, go jump in front of a car.
One more time I see it in my porch today/disturb my sleep again tonight and I am going to start making very nasty plans.
Fancy some cat meat, anybody?
How can people love cats?! *rolls eyes*

FML
I lost my LV makeup pouch today - with all my work makeup in there. FML FML FML FML!
Nothing compares to the heartache of losing the pouch itself.
I had something else on my shopping list for Paris in two weeks... but I guess that needs to be pushed back while I replace the pouch first.
:(

The one that did not make it
Two posts ago, I mentioned about writing something that's more serious than the usual nothings I post here.
As you might have seen, the last post was about a fountain ;) ... not too serious.
I've decided against writing up on that issue that's been in my head the last 3 weeks. Maybe now is not the time. Maybe another time. Maybe never at all.

Water, light and sound
Yesterday I found the one thing I actually love about Dubai.
There's nothing I'm particularly fond of in this city.
Then I saw this.

And it left me in awe.
This is the Dubai Fountain.
When Julia and I got to the area, Andrea Bocelli's Con Te Partiro (Time To Say Goodbye) was in its last minute and a half. My hair stood on ends and the goosebumps stayed until minutes after the song ended.
The sight was magnificent. Although I didn't manage to record a video of that (that's gonna be one of the regrets of my life!) I managed to capture a few photos.

I stayed on to witness 5 more songs (one song every half hour) because it is so bloody fantastic!!!
I recorded every single one of it and thank goodness my battery (already blinking at the start of the 4th song) lasted.
This is Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You.
*I apologize for the loss of quality upon uploading on YouTube.
After this performance, Julia and I went up to TGIF for dinner hoping we could get a table by the terrace and thankfully we did. The view from up there was even more spectacular.
It's almost impossible to describe what it is like viewing this in person. In some parts of the video you can see a building on the left-hand side. From that four-storey building you can gauge just how high the jets of water were. It really leaves one in awe.
And the goosebumps came, again and again and again.
(The other song that left me speechless was Andrea Bocelli & Celine Dion's The Prayer, which I manage to record from TGIF.)
I WANT THIS IN MY FUTURE HOUSE.

The invisible crown
The last day and a half have been fabulous.
After a LONG and TIRING day on Friday, I exited the arrival gate and as I went on my usual route to go down to where I get my cab, I heard somebody shout my name. I turned to see my two housemates and two of a housemate's friends there, waiting for me!
We proceeded to have dinner at the airport but it was a long wait before we managed to 1) get a table; and 2) tuck in.
It is extremely typical of Singaporeans to hang out in Changi Airport during weekends and holidays. It's a very 'happening' place, with ample space for the children to run free and the shops in the airport are actually very good if I may say so myself. Every restaurant had a queue so an hour passed before we actually had any dinner.
And yesterday, my two housemates (Julia and Sunil) wanted to tag along with me to Orchard Road. I went there with a mission - to get Anlynn's stuff.
It turned out to be quite a day and I'm glad I finally agreed to let them come along with me :)
Sunil has a very good listening ear and for the first time he heard my "stories" and gave his take on it. He has, also, very good dress sense. He'll put many girls to shame when it comes to picking out/matching outfits. He's to me what Anthony Marentino is to Charlotte York.
Upon exiting the City Hall MRT station and on to street level, he announced, "Welcome to The Wet Bra Road!"
-______-
(Bras Basah Road; Basah being wet in Malay.)
The malls of Orchard Road were jam packed today and I proposed a challenge to my housemates.
I told them how I loved being in San Francisco because people on the streets are just so friendly. If you caught their eye, you'd get a hello or at least a smile back. In Singapore, nobody looks at anybody so it's quite unlikely to happen. I challenged them to warm somebody's day.
Julia said I was crazy to be doing it in Singapore because people will only think we're crazy. Then Sunil decided to bring the challenge one-up by picking out a (unfortunate) victim where we'd all just catch his eye and then smile at the same time... WTF RIGHT. We were so bored!
10 seconds later, Sunil alerted us to one bald guy coming towards us. We all smiled at him and when he saw us, I burst out laughing. Epic fail!
Moments after he walked past my housemates couldn't stop laughing too because they said the guy looked SO CONFUSED! They said the moment his eyes caught mine (and I smiled) they could see he was trying to look everywhere else but didn't know where to look hahahaha.
Round 1 accomplished. Next: Round 2. Julia and I were to walk together and then upon spotting a victim, we were suppose to smile at him and immediately stare at his fly. (Sunil's job is to walk behind us and study the victim's reaction.)
You see what started off as a good intention to warm people's day (MY idea, erhem erhem), things slowly became malicious (SUNIL's doing).
And over coffee (barely an hour after lunch), I was dying to laugh and comment on the blouse a lady was wearing. Eventually I could not hold it any longer and I sprayed water all over the table and on Sunil..... Julia was lucky to be sitting beside me and hence, spared from being sprayed at. Yes, I'm bad at controlling laughter. If ever you have to sit in front of me... you've been warned.
Ok enough of nonsensical stuff. My next entry - to be written up when I'm in Dubai (with Julia wooots!) - will be on something a little more serious.

The difference between then and now
I must have seen this chain email when I was still in uni.
Back then, I thought it was kinda sweet.
Today, when I saw it again, I scoffed at the Guy Facts. What a bunch of bullcrap.
When a girl is quiet,
Millions of things are running through her mind.
When a girl is not arguing,
She is thinking deeply.
When a girl looks at you with eyes full of questions,
She is wondering how long you will be around.
When a girl answers, "I'm fine," after a few seconds,
She is not at all fine.
When a girl stares at you,
She is wondering why you are so wonderful.
When a girl lays on your chest,
She is wishing for you to be hers forever.
When a girl calls you everyday,
She is seeking for your attention.
When a girl wants to see you everyday,
She wants to be pampered.
When a girl says, "I'll love you forever,"
She means it.
When a girl says that she can't live without you,
She has made up her mind that you are her future.
When a girl says, "I miss you,"
No one in this world can miss you more than that.
GUY FACTS:
When a guy is quiet,
He's listening to you.
When a guy is not arguing,
He realizes he's wrong.
When a guy says, "I'm fine," after a few minutes,
He means it.
When a guy stares at you,
He thinks you're the most beautiful thing in the world.
When you're laying your head on a guy's chest
He has the world.
When a guy calls you everyday
He is in love.
When a (**good**) guy says he loves you
He means it.
When a guy says he can't live without you
He's with you till your done.
When a guy says, "I miss you,"
He misses you more than you could have ever missed him or anything else.
When a guy is quiet, he's thinking about having sex with you.
When a guy is not arguing, he knows better than to have to go without sex for the next 2 weeks.
When a guy stares at you, he's thinking about something else... sports, his buddies, Warcraft, whatever.
When you're laying your head on a guy's chest, he's thinking how much of a stud he is.
When a guy calls you everyday, he wants something else and it's not good.
As for the last two lines, I would still like to believe they are true.

So little time

I wish my life were a lot simpler. Things that have been happening in the last few weeks, I wish some of it never happened.
Time to right the wrong but I don't know how to do it :-S
Meanwhile, how much trust do I put in someone I barely know? If I had just met you and told you the wolf is tame, would you believe me? How much is too much?
Meanwhile I'm twenty-five =(((( already and yet I have so many personal goals to achieve with so little time!
They are not life-changing goals but they mean a lot to me.
On the other hand, I do not have any life-changing goals. SAD. But true.
I feel like a horrible adult.
One way to achieve my goals is to manage my time better.
Unfortunately, I still must sleep a lot. I sleep more than an average person because I need that sleep!
What I can improve on is to spend less time chatting online (which I have already been putting to practice), carry bigger bags to fit my books and magazines to read when I take public transport, take more fiber drinks so that I spend less time sitting on the throne hurhurhur, oh noes I have run out of ideas. That's only 3 ways to improve on my time management.
I'm doomed.

The colours of Fall
I love these shades!!!
Enough for me to want to paint my nails again right after work, which I have to use some kinda red for (at the mo', I mostly use 20 Candles On My Cake).
Do you realize how much trouble that is?
After work - one of these shades (1 day) - time to put back the red back on.
Can't decide which is a better colour to get.

An "honest disclosure"
Too much baggage! After more than an hour he decided to drop the bomb.
NOW, didn't we see this coming!
NOW, didn't we see this coming!
30-day challenge
I suck at throwing out clothes. Clothes which I have had since I was 21 are still sitting in my wardrobe even though the last time I wore those was when I was... 21?
I hardly think there's any chance I'd wear them again yet how can I throw out a Versace skirt because it's a Versace skirt; or how can I donate a blouse that still has its price-tag on; or how can I give away that pair of jeans because... if I do then I won't have that blue? Or, I have that blue but one's a straight-cut and the other is flare?
I came across shorts which I have never worn in the last year but still refuse to throw out. I have shorts in white that come in so many lengths and material it's ridiculous!
My denim jeans collection is the worst - I don't wear jeans, I just don't. Yet I love to buy them.
Common excuses are: I don't have one in this colour. I have one in this colour but not this wash. Or the cut is different. Oh the back pockets of this is more rugged. Oh this one is longer and will look better with high-heels. It's crazy.
My cousin had to talk me out of buying a pair of very expensive jeans a few times when we went out shopping together in London. I kept telling her I do not have a pair in that particular wash while she kept reminding me that I will never wear them so don't waste money. And then I argued back that I don't have a pair of 7 Jeans so I should get one!! And it went on and on and on and finally stopped when I blew my money on an Anya Hindmarch bag.
:-S
(note: in my loot from San Fran this trip is a pair of grey jeans which I think will never be worn more than 30 times)
And during my attempt at clearing out clothes, I found 3 pairs of jeans that I haven't worn in two years and are so similar in cut, wash and colour. The only difference is the material (softer/stiffer).
And I bloody well know I will not stop buying jeans.

At 25 with a slowing metabolism, I'd better start wearing all those clothes before I get fat and can never fit in them ever again...
Thus I have given myself a challenge to wear clothes that have been sleeping peacefully in my wardrobe over the next 30 days. This will prove challenging as some clothes are not appropriate for me to wear when I go overseas (e.g. shorts, mini skirts).
I think you should try it too. I highly suspect most of my readers to have bursting wardrobes that are also filled with clothes that have never been worn in at least 3 years.
Try it! If you really hate yourself wearing a particular piece of clothing from 1998, you know it's time to throw it out - Versace or not.

I think you should try it too. I highly suspect most of my readers to have bursting wardrobes that are also filled with clothes that have never been worn in at least 3 years.
Try it! If you really hate yourself wearing a particular piece of clothing from 1998, you know it's time to throw it out - Versace or not.
Personal finance management fail
Uhmmmmmm shopping in HK is over-rated, isn't it?
I hardly bought clothes in HK. Almost all my money went to health drinks because it's cheaper than Singapore.
With that said I have concluded that I prefer shopping in Europe and US than Asia. That's just me anyways.
Seoul (with the exception of shopping for cosmetics), Japan, Taipei, Shanghai, HK and Singapore are definitely not as fun as Europe/US for shopping. I suppose it's also got to do with the fashion.
When I was in San Francisco, I saw a pair of Jimmy Choo pumps in faux aligator skin and a pair of Christian Louboutin pumps, both of which are to die for.
When lah when :(
Tod's shoes are definitely more comfortable but the above-mentioned pairs are aesthetically perfect.
I'm broke from this trip.
Will not shop for the next 3 weeks.
Ok gotta unpack and clear out some old clothings from the wardrobe.

Fleeting
I can't sustain my interest for long.
It's a very sad realization.

I dislike making decisions, especially those which seem so trivial - and I mean seriously trivial - yet it can tell a lot about myself and affect how the universe expands yeah right.
As an adult, when I ask people for opinion of things, they give me the options and possible outcome and because I am an adult, I'm suppose to have to DECIDE. Some things I just don't know how to decide and I just want an answer from the heavens!!
I don't wanna have to decide.
Wasn't it nice that when we were kids, we just did what we're told by our parents? Sorry if you didn't but I was a pretty good kid :P
If shit happened, then it's because "you (referring to mum/dad) said so!" and all will be fine again.
I'm a pretty terrible twenty-five year-old.
