Charmed

Tonight I removed all the charms from my bracelet because there's a new addition to the family (thank you cousins!) and I didn't want the new charm to look somewhat more shiny and out of place from the rest...

It's a fun process where I get my fingers all black in the midst of all the rubbing and polishing.

Then comes the task of having to rearrange the charms so that there's a balance of weight and colour.

Below is a picture of the unpolished bracelet with the new addition in the middle. Two love birds! How sweet :)

This week's cover story ...

On last week's gossip-magazine covers, it was all Kate Middleton and the Royal Baby.

l did an Australian flight and Aussie girls are only second to the Americans when it comes to reading gossip magazines. l lost count of the number of different Kate Middleton covers that l saw. Probable names, gifts, nannies, schools, etc. They analysed everything there is to analyse.

But up till today, no news of the royal birth.
And the magazines don't know what else to write for this week!

July babies

This month is the birth month of Wee Chieh, Shien Wei and myself. That's 3 out of 5 of us close mates. And there's also the birthday of Yuan Feng, who's boyfriend to member number 4. With the exception of mine, the rest of their birthdays fall on the second half of the month. A joint-birthday celebration was thus held last weekend right after I had touched down from a tiring flight.

Birthday kids

It was one of those days that I laughed so hard my stomach ached. When you're past your mid-20's, life is so stressful and hectic and routine that it isn't often that you will find yourself laughing this hard. We were all brought back to childhood as we played games like (after translation:) "Eagle catches the chick" and "Where is the train going?", toes version.

The picnic was perfect with the stunning views and breeze, and the evening was capped off with spectacular fireworks that were part of the national day parade rehearsals.

Hungry and dreaming of mushroom risotto

I crave. And it must be satisfied soon.
Oh god. I wanna sleep now... Take the hunger away.

Hi-Ho, hi-ho

On the first day of my annual leave, I visited a nail spa to have my red nails turn coral. Tonight, I remove the coral colour with a heavy heart....for the leave has ended.

First

This is the first post I'm doing on my new toy, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1.
I am still trying to get used to this interface. If not for the sake of watching dramas (and I can download torrents on this), this isn't exactly my tablet of choice.

I'm back from Phuket. It was quite an adventure! I'll definitely go back there again.

Been in BP since Thursday. Everyday passes by so quickly here when you have so much to do. Yesterday Anshii and Auntie Eng came back for the weekend, and today Markus came by too. Unfortunately I fell ill with food poisoning (I refuse to believe my hometown's hero dish is the cause of it though admittedly the place is among the most unhygienic in town). I was so tired from the runs and vomiting that I didn't really have the energy to take Markus around.

The next few days will be busy with house renovation stuff. Bathroom accessories and lights. Tiles are just about laid and the tilers are moving on to building the kitchen table top and counter next week.

Then on Thursday,  I get my wings back again.

Out with the polycarbonate

In with the aluminum!
I had to top up several hundreds though. I know on its first journey, my heart will hurt at its first dent. However I'm also excited to see how banged up it'll be over time.

New luggage

My Rimowa luggage took a big hit on my last flight.
American luggage handlers are probably the worst in the world. Every time I do this LA flight, at least one wheel from someone's bag will bust.

It was my turn this time. I lost half a wheel and my bag cracked.

Sent my bag to Rimowa worried, thinking they'll tell me they can replace the wheels  but the body is gone, and there goes my $$. Besides I need a luggage by tomorrow.

So how surprising it is that I received a call from the office today and they told me to go choose a new luggage from their boutique!

WOOHOO

Got wings, can fly

Threats

I hate it when a passenger comes and tell me, "Fix this or I'll go back to traveling with XXX."
This happened on my last flight where a passenger was upset because for the x number of times, the ground staff had assigned him the seat closest to the toilet even though he specifically told them not to. He said, "I used to travel all the time with XXX because I was based in Country A. If this is going to happen again, I'm taking my business back to XXX."

I understood his grief because ground staff always screw up like this!! only to leave us handling the problems when the passengers board. My crew helped him swap his seat but honestly, I don't like it and I don't buy it when they make threats like this.
Not because I am so confident that The Company is that great he'll be crawling back to us. More like, seriously, is he going to fly XXX and then end up transiting at Country A, wait a few hours before boarding a flight to Tokyo?
I really don't think so.
If you are based in a particular country where there's a national airline, and being such a great busy businessman that you are, I think you don't really have a choice! And guess what, I know you're trying to stick to as few airlines as possible to accrue your miles.

Post-Tokyo

ALWAYS have no room for new clothes, new toiletries (that I stock for months in advance) and food.
Always!
Post-Tokyo is usually the time I force myself to spring clean my wardrobe. But there's really nothing left to give away anymore. #hoarder
