After a 12-hour long flight (15 hours of duty time) and not sleeping during the flight I came back to the hotel, slept for 5 hours, woke up, thought about MJ and spent the last hour and a half or so watching his videos on YouTube.
When I saw his live performance at the 1988 Grammy's of Man In The Mirror, memories came flooding back of how I would rewind and play the music video of this song over and over on my VCR :S It was a meaningful video and that song was one of my favourite Jacko songs. I am so sure this video is stashed somewhere in my grandmother's cabinet and definitely in another one of my VHS collections I have They Don't Care About Us.
Was also watching We Are The World (actually I have a copy of this vid in my hard disk) and I conclude that Cyndi Lauper and Bruce Springsteen should be banned from singing forever!!! Oh my ears! I remember reading about this whole U.S.A. For Africa thing when I was doing an assignment for my elective in Uni. The assignment was actually on Band Aid's Do They Know It's Christmas? I know not everybody has heard of Do They Know It's Christmas but I can bet my last dollar all of you can sing to We Are The World or at least part of it.
Jacko's truly a musical genius....
Such a sad thing that he was exploited to the very last day of his life.

Sheet Masks
HOLY ^!*&!^@!!!
hope I didn't scare you hahahaha.
This is me, with my sheet mask.
Sheet masks are expensive but most ideal for travelling. I don't use them much because I'm not a light traveller in the first place, so I carry everything full-sized. Sheet masks, while very compact, don't appeal to me and I'd rather carry a whole tub/tube of mask.
Hydrating the skin is extremely important after flights, even more so after long flights. The next time you travel long-haul, dig your nose and inspect your booger. Don't be surprised to see clotted blood. The cabin air is really that dry.
Hence a hydrating mask is highly recommended after getting off the plane. If you have baggage restrictions, buy a few packet of sheet masks with you and make sure you check them in and not put them in your hand-carry. Since most countries now have restrictions on the carriage of liquids, aerosols and gels, sheet masks unfortunately fall into that category so to be on the safe side, check it in!
Ok honestly I don't know where I'm going with this entry. I know you don't want to know about sheet masks, and I don't want to talk about sheet masks.
The purpose of this entry is actually for me to rant about the stupid virus but I don't want to make it like I want to write about it because I already have, so many times! But I can't help it!!
In the last 4 to 5 days with the exception of yesterday, Singapore has recorded crazy spikes in the number of confirmed cases.
What is more scary is that in the past, they were all import cases. These days, the number of local infection is higher than the import cases. For a country so tiny (710 square kms) 629 cases is scary. I just saw on my facebook a (not close) friend of mine has to be quarantined for the next 7 days. I don't know how it happened. If I am not mistaken, he's finishing his final semester in Monash Clayton and he probably came back to Singapore for a holiday.
Don't know what to do man. It's like, it's dangerous to fly, it's dangerous to stay in Singapore. We just have to admit that the damn bug is e-vry-where.
On the bright-er side of things (actually I'm not so sure...) there is an increased chance of really getting to London for a holiday next month. I was looking at the rosters on the whiteboard in my flat this morning and I saw that my housemate actually has a flight to London, on the very day that I planned to go!! This means I have someone to go sightseeing with me and I can put up with her at the hotel. Will have to think this through though - don't know if I'm exposing myself unnecessarily to the bug in England.
I have so many things to write about, so many pictures to put up...
But I also have a few things to do here in Zurich (the crew are still complaining about how boring this place is... can't believe these people!) such as visit Rheinfall and the Lindt Chocolate Factory.
We'll see how efficient I can (or not) be.

I think everyone will remember this day and how they first heard of Michael Jackson's death.
Probably like 9/11.
I woke up, was putting stuff (also known as serum and moisturizer and sunscreen) on my face in Shing Wei's room after my shower at 7 a.m. when I heard the newsreader announce it. The radio was very soft and I thought I heard it wrongly. As I walked closer to the radio, the newsreader was saying something about Farrah Fawcett's death. And that was how I initially thought I must have heard wrong. "The newsreader must have said Farrah Fawcett, not Michael Jackson."
I turned up the volume and continued with what I was doing when the radio DJ came up and then spoke about MJ's death. SHOCKED. I thought the DJ was playing a distasteful joke on the listeners. I didn't have internet to check the news, and then the DJ confirmed that CNN has already reported it, etc. It is real.
Yesterday, there was already news that Farrah Fawcett was close to her death. Today, her death is suddenly overshadowed.
When I saw Alpha this morning, I told him, "You see, June 25th, very bad day." (Because it was still 25th in the U.S.) Private joke, because it's the birthday of someone we were bitching about just yesterday.
Anyway, there will never be another MJ, no other artiste will come close. Not one bit.
Even more so for us 80s babies.

Newton's law of universal gravitation
I woke up yesterday morning and suddenly this came to my head:
If Sir Isaac Newton's father had durian trees instead of apple trees in his orchard.... then we will not know about gravity as we do today.
Hmm.
(It would have knocked him silly; it also would not have fallen on his head like the blind apple because people say durians have eyes.)
Well I do believe I've been eating too much durians at home and at the same time playing with one apple too often.
Apple moisturizer from Seoul.
I've got a pretty packed schedule in KL. But guaranteed, plenty of fun and laughs.
Already couldn't stop laughing the whole morning.

I yearn for a charger
Bless my memory.
I brought my lappy all the way back with me to Batu Pahat (and then day after tomorrow to KL) without its charger.
SO SMART.
I have only 20 minutes left of battery life. Dad and sis are already fighting over the PC (who knew my dad will suddenly become so dependent on the PC? the house needs another computer) and so I'm trying to stay out of that while I can.
And would you believe my luck - I sometimes go wireless on my E71 at home when I'm too lazy to boot up the laptop... but now, for the first time, there's something wrong with the wireless (my lappy's connected by the LAN cable) and I can't go online with my E71 too.
Bad luck, really bad luck.
Hopefully I'll get some time to blog while waiting for my friends in uni on Thursday.

It starts now
I waited so so so so so long for this.
My annual leave, finally starts now.
Just finished a workshop that will give me visible blue-blacks on my two arms... It was very physical because we were learning to restrain unruly passengers and also self-defence.
Oh my goodness.
But now I feel so much more equipped to protect myself, in the metal tube or otherwise.

Puppies Behind Bars
Was looking for something inspirational to read, to know that there is still hope in the human race.
Found this, Puppies Behind Bars.
Go give it a read. It's about inmates raising puppies and how being given such a task has given new hope and sense of purpose to them.
I was feeling this glow in me (because I love puppies) when I read this and was already making a note to blog about this programme. Then when I got to the end of the story, I saw this comment by 'angiemoose'. I SWEAR that isn't me.
But someone's trying to be me ^o)

Impending doom
Hsin Ching told me I've been buying too many handbags in the last year and I told her the last one I bought in April was the last for some time to come because I have checked all on my wishlist. Well, almost - just a certain overnight/cabin bag left. But there's no hurry in getting that one.
Then because I was so free this afternoon, I was ebaying to hunt down a certain dress which I refused to pay full price for in San Francisco (it was US$270). Then I started to hunt for the Burberry scarf (because I have searched 3 stores in Singapore including the one in the airport and they don't carry that scarf).... and then it became bags and not long after, I was going through bags on Net-A-Porter, Bluefly, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and Saks.
I smell trouble.
I hope when I fly to Milan next month, I have enough self-control and go to Venice instead of spending everyday going through leather goods.

I have just come back from Simei with some of my baking supplies.
To be honest, I had nothing but only an oven to start with. Didn't even have a rolling pin. So I was really starting from scratch.
I spent close to a hundred bucks and I don't think I'm even halfway to having the things I need to start baking :(
Two essential things that I still have not bought:
1) digital weighing scale - I'll get that from Cosway when I go home
2) mixer
A stand-mixer is really expensive and I'm not sure if I'm willing to put my money down on one. Maybe a hand mixer is good enough?? Dear friends, please leave your opinion.
I saw a few at KitchenAid.com and they look like a good piece of work to have in the kitchen! Those stand-mixers come in so many colours - up to 27 to choose from! You can choose one in your favourite colour, or just one that will match the kitchen.
I think I'll put this on my wish-list to Santa.

This is just part of my obsession with moisturizing the skin. If you go through my toiletries shelf, you'll probably find 50 skin-moisturizing products. I did my laundry last night and also dipped my hands into bleach (without rubber gloves because I forgot to buy a new pair) so my hands were so rough and dry.
So before I went to sleep I applied a lot of cream on my hands and then donned on the moisture gloves to sleep. VERY VERY HOT ok. For those of you down under, you can do it without sweat. The cold and dry winter must have already affected your skin somehow.
You can get one of these gloves from The Body Shop (a little pricey) or from The Face Shop (should be under $5; I got mine free from Seoul).

The time has come to bake
It's nice to be off on the same day as my housemate, Julia. We went out for lunch at a Japanese restaurant. It was a very good lunch, to say the least.
I went to get my pendant after that *jumps around*. Idled about in Tampines and suddenly, we realized it was 4 p.m. already.
For too long I have been asking Julia to go jogging with me. She usually says, "OK" half-heartedly and has the weirdest of excuses not to jog. So when today she said she was going jogging, guess who backed out...

And I also forgot to make my spa appointment so what the heck. Haven't done my laundry too. Doh. Very unproductive.
I guess since I won't be going down to the spa tomorrow I might go get some baking stuff. Julia asked me today when was I going to bake because it's been a year since I bought the oven to bake. And it's been sitting there nicely, having done nothing except made me toasts.
Hopefully very soon you will get an entry of me having baked something. Hopefully.

On a different note, when mum was here last weekend I let her try Laneige's Water Sleeping Pack. She loved it. So when we were out shopping, I slipped away to get her one (no freebies like in Seoul, boo.) and I think she really loves it. She used it for two consecutive nights when she's only suppose to use it twice a week!
Can't wait for my annual leave to start!! Will be broke without the flights, but I've been waiting for this long break for far too long to care.

Case 4x
I feel sick...
I just read the latest news, and realized that one of the latest cases of H1N1 was on my flight. He was seated in Economy class. Of the 4 sectors, I only worked in economy for one sector - and it had to be that fateful day.

Money on honey
I went down to the DFS gallery today to buy honey. Got a shock of my life when a 3-bottle pack was selling at NZ$215. Even with my crew discount it is still a lot of money.
Then I went several shops down to this Korean store, which sells the same honey (same brand) and it was so much cheaper... and he gives SIA and Korean Air crew a special price too. In the end I paid only NZ$105 for the same 3-bottle pack that is selling in DFS, saving myself NZ$110.

I bought 3 bottles of (Unique Manuka Factor) UMF +15, and another small bottle of UMF +20. The UMF +20 bottle was NZ$23. The higher UMF indicates its higher antibacterial properties. For non-UMF honey, you can only keep the honey for that long. For UMF honey, the longer you keep it the higher the UMF in the honey grows. Basically you can keep the honey for life. I've heard of many colleagues who have raved about it, just eating it to keep healthy (you know there has to be something we do for our body when we have this lifestyle). It's not yummy, but it's good for you.
(Oh what the heck, I just realized I spent RM300 on honey!)

Cold in Auckland
* Oh man, I didn't think it'll be so wet and cold here... Whatever am I going to do in Christchurch next month? I hear it's snowing there already. And there's really nothing to do in Christchurch when the weather is bad.
I bought so much groceries today it's a bit ridiculous. I've a box of kiwi fruit to bring home, I hope there won't be bruises on the fruits by the time I get back to SG.
And there's surprisingly many things to buy in Auckland! I thought I finally get to save some money, but no~...
because cabin crew get such good discounts here.

because manuka honey's just so expensive.

Although I think they probably are not medical doctors... Or they could also be doctors/academics/researchers going for a conference.
* I'd like to touch on my hotel room. It's like a service apartment. I've got a kitchenette, a washing machine, a decent-sized fridge, a microwave oven, toaster, a tonne of cutleries and cooking utensils, but still I don't find it impressive like the hotels in East Asia :( . My TV's old-fashioned, the finishing touches to the room is so simple, and I can't even lock my room door (I can only latch). Sigh. Just can't compare. And I have to pay exhorbitant rates for internet with a cap to my usage! ARGH.

* SERIOUSLY I need kakis to go with me to London!! PRIMARK, TOWER BRIDGE, ROYAL ALBERT HALL, WEST END, ANYBODY? 2nd week of July, c'mon!
I bought so much groceries today it's a bit ridiculous. I've a box of kiwi fruit to bring home, I hope there won't be bruises on the fruits by the time I get back to SG.

Wonder Girls
On my recent flight to Korea, I was exposed to many Korean songs... because one male colleague was very into K-Pop, so was my chief stewardess (she's so hip and not her age)... also there were two Korean stewardesses so they were talking about Korean songs all the time. Even when we were shopping, we stopped at least 3 times to listen to songs the shops were playing -____-
We did embarrassing things such as dancing on the streets, getting the owner of a restaurant to turn up the volume of the music and then dancing (and refusing to leave!), you know, just embarrassing but fun things.
I was introduced to Wonder Girls, the hottest girl band in Korea now, and I think they're so hot, hotter than Spice Girls...
During the flight back from Seoul, we were even doing the Nobody dance in the galley.

Redundant purchase
One of the things on my shopping list was Laneige's compact powder refill.
I bought this very cool 'sliding pact' by Laneige at a warehouse sale a month or two ago... I liked the powder, that's why I'm getting the refill.
Everytime I take out the powder for touch-ups, people comment about how much it looks like a mobile phone - it even has its own case.
The pan slides out from the bottom. Flip the pan up and you'll get the hidden sponge applicator.
But when I saw the new sliding pact, I was very unsure about getting just the refill. The new sliding pact is too cute!!
Initially I had paid for the refill. But I kept playing with the new sliding pact in the shop and felt like I couldn't leave without owning one.... so I paid an extra 10,000 won for it -_-...
Now you know how women spend money very unnecessarily. All for packaging.

The soul of Korea
I had such an awesome day out in Seoul today!
It's my first time ever to have a clear day in Seoul hence more things can be done...
I had this super super good porridge in Myeung Dong before my colleagues and I started our shopping. I think it was also partly because this set of crew is so fantastic and fun :)
Shopping was madness. I bought earrings at 1000 won per pair (roughly S$1.20). Accessories were cheap cheap cheap. Clothes are not crazily cheap but decently priced, but the variety is mind-blowing. I actually think Seoul is a much better place to shop than San Francisco -_-
After 7 hours of shopping, I was left wanting more... except that I have blown almost $1200 this whole SanFran/Seoul trip. Had to stop.
Food is good too... I never thought I'd like Korean food, but like in most cases, I only discover how much I like a certain cuisine when I'm in the country of origin.
And I finally got to meet up with my uni friend Jen!! Finally :) Back when we were graduating, we kept talking about how myself, Kim and Dims have to make a trip to Korea to visit her... and it finally came true :))
It felt so unbelievable as I sat in the cab going to see her...
I topped up more cosmetics... I threw out quite a lot of things just before my flight here (from 5 fat cosmetic pouches to 5 light ones, each serving its own purpose) and I think it's going to be quite fat again. I went crazy at Laneige, because it's expensive in the rest of the world but so cheap in Korea. And the nice salesperson threw in samples double the number of the items I bought. Possibly triple. AND I GET TAX-REFUND!
I love Seoul!!
NOTE: Everybody must go to Seoul at least once OK? Annual pilgrimage is highly recommended. Guys, you may not shop but you can go look at the girls....

First spillage
Today I had my first spillage incident. Considering that it took me a year to achieve my first spillage, I'm actually pretty good at my job! Some people spill on passengers on their first flight, if not the second. Can you imagine balancing a whole tray with twenty cups of water/juice with one hand?
Today my unfortunate victim had Tiger Beer all over him. Great. And he wasn't even a drinker.
I was already handing out my last few drinks with probably only a cup of juice, a cup of wine and a cup of beer on the tray left. This new melamine tray is slippery so the littlest movements will cause the cups to lose balance. And that was what happened. The thing is as much as I have been aware of this I've never had problems with the trays until today.
And that was the grand opening of more spillage to come for today's flight.
I was damn shocked when the beer spilled and I think there were a few passengers who were watching when I was giving out drinks... because I swear there were a few 'OHHhh's (like when the home team strikes the woodwork) when the cup toppled. Obviously the passenger was not pleased. I ran back to put the tray down, grabbed a stack of serviettes and tried to clean up the mess. Of course I apologized like mad... then when I told him I could wash the shirt for him before the beer stains he appeared to more pleased. After all, it was almost 12 hours flight time, the shirt will surely dry. Luckily he had something else to change into onboard.
I tell my friends over and over again, always carry spare clothes in your hand carry. You never know when shit might happen.
And the worst thing was, the shirt was a white Ralph Lauren. I cannot tell you how embarrassed I felt ok.... Imagine if someone spilled beer on your RL?!
After that I must have knocked over drinks four more times. It definitely is a record. Right after I finished giving out drinks on that tray, I had to pour more drinks on a new tray. I cannot describe the situation to you because it will make no sense unless you know the layout of the galley on a 777-300ER but I knocked over a cup from the corner of a tray and wetted my galley. After giving out all the drinks, I went back to get an apple juice for someone and I toppled the cup and the juice spilled all over my silver tray. It was like my orientation was just WRONG. My leading steward said at the rate I was going, he was going to be my next victim. My chief stewardess was nice enough to issue a voucher to the passenger, whom by then was already pretty much appeased. By the time he left the aircraft, I was pretty sure we had won back a disappointed passenger.
I even dropped a few apples when I was handing over the apple basket to my leading steward... How come so clumsy!!!
My chief stewardess later told me that this happens when we don't get enough sleep. Wrong orientation, plenty of spillage. I wouldn't discount that because I really had not been sleeping well. That morning in SFO, I had woken up at 5 a.m. and couldn't fall back to sleep again. The morning before, woke up at 4 a.m. and also couldn't go back to sleep.
After I woke up from my crew rest I felt so much better and carried out the second meal service without a hitch.
I hope I never have to spill beverage on anyone again. Too much stress.... I believe since the spillage happened so early into the flight, it affected me and that was why so many accidents followed thereafter.
Looking at the bright side of things, luckily it wasn't a hot drink that I spilled on my passenger.

Shopping overdose
Too much shopping and it's causing me a headache. I feel utterly drained from looking at all the clothes and shoes. Really. drained.
After 3 hours at Westfield I had to walk back to the hotel to put all my shopping bags down because my arm was almost breaking (not very good for my back too I believe) and it was hindering my shopping. Came out again to continue... so now you know why I have a headache from too much shopping.
And today I bought a Burberryscarf shawl as a present for my aunt... I'm disappointed that Nordstrom couldn't give me a Burberry gift box (had to use a Nordstrom gift box instead). OH WELL TO SAVE SOME MONEY!!! (If I were to buy at a Burberry boutique I wouldn't get a tax-waiver and the sales tax in California's so high !*&@^!&*#!)
I like that scarf too leh... hmmmmmmmmmmm.............

SFO
The jet lag!
It always always happens. *beats chest*
Will wake up usually at about 5 a.m. (GMT -7) and be wide-awake... even though I had tried my best to exhaust myself completely. It happens to all other crew as well... The States AND New Zealand stations are the only places where we'd all be gungho about going for breakfast.
(Surprisingly that while NZ is only slightly ahead of time than Malaysia/Singapore, it's enough to screw our body-clock up.)
I woke up at 4.04 a.m... And I saw my housemate (who arrived at LAX yesterday) online. I knew she probably just woke up too so I messaged her. After her 16 hour-flight (SIN-LAX direct) and not sleeping during crew rest and going straight out after arriving at the hotel, she too woke up at 3 a.m.
OHMYGOD. The torture!!!!

Nerves
I'm so nervous. I start my four-sector flight tomorrow and for sure I will have to work in Business Class this time, there's no running away at all.
And tomorrow's flight ought to be full - and tough.
There's also a million and one things that I still don't know about Biz Class...

Can't wait to taste the clam chowder that everyone raves about at Fisherman's Wharf! And then to see my new favourite animal, the seals!! at the Wharf too... cannot wait, cannot wait :)
There's also a possibility of finally meeting Jennifer in Seoul.

I'll never feel safe going through turbulence again...
Honestly, most flying crew I know have never felt worried about turbulence. If anything, it rocks us to sleep when we're lying horizontally in the crew bunk. If it's very bad and Captain tells us to take a seat, it can even make us sleepy just sitting upright.
Let's hope that AF 447 managed to land on an island, a la 'Lost'.

Damn bug
I know this is not the first post, nor will it be the last, on the A(H1N1) bug.
That damn bug caused my flight to be delayed 3 hours out of Shanghai. ****, everyone was already damn sleepy (departure at midnight) and couldn't wait to arrive back home for a rest and yet we waited like idiots not knowing what the heck was going on in the aircraft that just came in. Of course we knew they were conducting temperature checks but when an hour passed, we expected them to be out already - just as we had the day before. But no, a second hour passed and still no news. We saw a few passengers walk through the aerobridge and that was it. More waiting. It wasn't until much later that we were informed of what was going on... such inconvenience I tell you!
The poor set of crew were also held up with all the passengers onboard till 2 a.m. (The plane arrived around 10.15 p.m.)
We were so sick of waiting and so sleepy that we were hoping for the delay to go on all the way til 6 a.m. when the next inbound flight comes in (thus the next outbound flight is at 7) to take our passengers back with them so that my set of crew can go back to the hotel to rest for half a day and then pax back on another flight.
Luck wasn't on our side though. We finally managed to depart at 3.15 a.m... and one passenger bound for Melbourne asked me, "How come you can still smile..." when I welcomed her onboard.

Anyways after extensive research, I will go downtown today to get the Creative X-Fi Surround 5.1 USB sound card. I'm also extremely tempted to pair it up with Creative's Gigaworks T3 speakers. That better be the end to all my problems.
I'm going to shower and get some shut-eye. Still have to sort out my cosmetics later.
By the way people please wear appropriate masks if you have to travel. And use some common sense too, like wash your hands before you eat and do carry a hand sanitizer with you (the entire island's depleted of stock). It's flu season also in the tropics so do see a doctor at the slightest symptoms of falling ill. Stay healthy, everyone!!

1.45 p.m.
Blogging in Word, because I can’t access Blogger, Wordpress, Youtube and Google Vid. In other words, I really have nothing much to do.
Basically last night I touched down in Shanghai 30 minutes before scheduled time but it wasn’t til another 1.5 hours before I could leave the airport. We were held up 50 minutes because the health (and quarantine) officers came onboard in their protection suits to take everyone’s temperature. There were 6 of them, so I don’t know what took them up to 20 minutes to do that. I know it was a full load, but it takes only 10 seconds to move from one pax to another. After 30 minutes when they all left, we thought it was over, but not so fast yet. We waited longer, as another lady in uniform (and mask) came onboard with another guy who led her to somewhere in the Economy class. It was a lady pax they were looking for – don’t know what was wrong with her, maybe her temperature was on the high side. In the end, they made her disembark last and took her away. By the time we cleared the aircraft, the other set of crew who were taking the aircraft back were already ready to board and prepare the aircraft for the next flight.
After we got off the aircraft and were waiting for our passports to be stamped (only in Russia and China!) I realized I left my safety shoes in the aircraft. Panic! Cz I cannot operate without it… well I can, but I’ll have to go out to buy a pair of covered shoes as temporary measure. But most importantly, this was my last pair of safety shoes. Can’t afford to lose it. Thankfully, someone from the other set of crew saw my shoe bag and handed the shoes over to the ground-staff. So I’ll get it back tonight. *relief*
So the whole delay (in first paragraph) was a blessing in disguise. If we weren’t delayed for so long, I would have lost my shoes for good. Because the other set of crew were not meant to arrive at the airport at that time when we touched down. And then the cleaners (they are super efficient) would have thrown the bag away and I would never see my shoes again!
Anyway I’ll have so much to do when I go back to Singapore. The Great Singapore Sale is on, but screw it, I’m not going. I’ve got more important things to do anyway, such as cleaning up my room. But before I can tidy up the room, I have to sort out my things – and one of the biggest headaches is sorting out my cosmetics. The last I counted I have 5 makeup pouches. Even I was shocked. I’m sure there are a few items which have reached the end of their life so tomorrow’s a good time to sort out those which will stay on and those which will live with the rats.
I have also just heard of a ‘usb soundcard’. I was complaining to my colleague about wanting to get new, better speakers because my sound card is underperforming. He said getting better speakers will only accentuate the flaws of the soundcard. He said as it is, the sound is bad with my current speakers because the speakers are already showing the weakness of the sound card. If I were to get even better speakers, it will make it worse. :-o That I never knew!! Thank goodness for the timely tip because I was going down to Sim Lim/Funan after I get back from Shanghai.
And then he recommended me to get a USB Sound Card. Didn’t know such a thing existed. I just googled and saw that Creative has a few to offer – I guess my problem will soon be over =)

Blogging in Word, because I can’t access Blogger, Wordpress, Youtube and Google Vid. In other words, I really have nothing much to do.
Basically last night I touched down in Shanghai 30 minutes before scheduled time but it wasn’t til another 1.5 hours before I could leave the airport. We were held up 50 minutes because the health (and quarantine) officers came onboard in their protection suits to take everyone’s temperature. There were 6 of them, so I don’t know what took them up to 20 minutes to do that. I know it was a full load, but it takes only 10 seconds to move from one pax to another. After 30 minutes when they all left, we thought it was over, but not so fast yet. We waited longer, as another lady in uniform (and mask) came onboard with another guy who led her to somewhere in the Economy class. It was a lady pax they were looking for – don’t know what was wrong with her, maybe her temperature was on the high side. In the end, they made her disembark last and took her away. By the time we cleared the aircraft, the other set of crew who were taking the aircraft back were already ready to board and prepare the aircraft for the next flight.
After we got off the aircraft and were waiting for our passports to be stamped (only in Russia and China!) I realized I left my safety shoes in the aircraft. Panic! Cz I cannot operate without it… well I can, but I’ll have to go out to buy a pair of covered shoes as temporary measure. But most importantly, this was my last pair of safety shoes. Can’t afford to lose it. Thankfully, someone from the other set of crew saw my shoe bag and handed the shoes over to the ground-staff. So I’ll get it back tonight. *relief*
So the whole delay (in first paragraph) was a blessing in disguise. If we weren’t delayed for so long, I would have lost my shoes for good. Because the other set of crew were not meant to arrive at the airport at that time when we touched down. And then the cleaners (they are super efficient) would have thrown the bag away and I would never see my shoes again!
Anyway I’ll have so much to do when I go back to Singapore. The Great Singapore Sale is on, but screw it, I’m not going. I’ve got more important things to do anyway, such as cleaning up my room. But before I can tidy up the room, I have to sort out my things – and one of the biggest headaches is sorting out my cosmetics. The last I counted I have 5 makeup pouches. Even I was shocked.
