Again, on my way to my favourite hang out in SG - Orchard!
I’ve been lucky enough to be able to head there at least once a week. It’s the third time this week today. I go there most often for massage and dinners with friends. Arissa stays at home with my PIL while Mama does her thing.
Anyway when we first announced the name to be given to Arissa, my MIL obviously made a few phone calls to announce it to relatives as well.
That morning, during one of the phone calls I overheard her conversation going something like, “Ang Moh mia kio Arissa. (English name is Arissa.)..... mmm si Alice! Arissa! (Not Alice! Arissa!).... mmm si!! Mm si Alice! A-R-I-S-S-A.”
I chuckled. Whoever on the other end of the line was probably thought my MIL can’t pronounce L and asked, “Ohhh, Alice ah?“ hahahah.
