I'm in a happy place

If the last one week shows what marriage is like, then marriage is fine for me!

It was Chinese New Year on 28.1.2017, and I received a red packet from the husband.

I had to wake up at 4 am for my reporting at 7 am (to London, where I am now), and he woke up at 5 am to prepare breakfast and send me to work.

I had to cover up a few things from my MIL (oh the awkwardness of living with someone else's parents) and he was quick to do it for me.

I left a mess in our room, and he told me he tidied the mess while I was at work.

I wanted a haircut, so he sponsored my first haircut as his wife at his hairdresser (which I would never have paid for myself).

This genie doesn't live in a lamp. He lives with me.

May we live hale and hearty and love each other till our hairs are grey, our faces unrecognizably wrinkled and our backs are crooked.

WEDDING IS OVER

I am extremely relieved the wedding is over.
Like super extremely.
There is nothing about it that I miss.
Nothing.

After two days of stuffing ourselves silly, it is now time for Markus and I to get back to work. While he has proper work to do, I need to pack up and be more serious with my moving.

I hate moving.
I'm never a creature of change. I like familiarity.

The biggest compliment

With money at two beauty salons in Singapore, yet I'm choosing to rush back to BP tomorrow afternoon (the start of my leave) just to do a 3-hour facial and come back again at 7 am the next day to continue with my wedding preparations, I think I've just paid the BP beautician the highest form of compliment!

Two days ago I did a trial makeup with the makeup artist.
I've no faith in her. Sigh.

The day finger pickers took over the world

Sorry for the random title.
Guitar players would know what I'm referring to.

Anyway about 20 days ago I was cracking my head selecting songs for my montage.
About 10 days ago I was cracking my head over my march in song.
About 9 days ago I was still finalizing my playlist (which thankfully a guest came to tell me she noticed it and she loved it!).
TODAY, I'm still choosing songs fml.
I thought I'm done with that. I thought I'd be much more relaxed for the SG banquet since most things would have been ready.
No.
A new montage. Going through them songs again. Ugh. Dread.

Bride without a nail

I hurt my thumb pretty badly yesterday at work. It still hurts very much and I think the nail will fall off.
I can only hope that it doesn't fall off before my wedding.
I also hope the gel I have now lasts till after the 22nd. I had wanted new nails for the Singapore banquet but it hurts too much just at the thought of having to scrap and buff away the gel.

The importance of punctuation marks

As seen on my Facebook:

Girl A posts her family photo. Girl A is quiet on Facebook 364 days in a year. Girl B decided to ask how her old friend was.
She writes, "How are you my friend?"

Wow.
It took me 5 seconds to realize Girl B wasn't questioning why she has such a friend.

What diet?

The BP banquet is over.

I think the biggest and most memorable moments of the night were when my high school friends plucked courage from the Greek gods and did a surprise performance, and when Markus ended it by singing the ending of a song to me.
Very very touched. I know my friends must have been crazy to want to do that for me, but I love it that they're sometimes this crazy.

I couldn't have been happier - I was really really really happy - to have seen the faces of those who turned up. Just their presence was enough for me.

My relatives have mostly gone back.
My diet was gone even before my banquet FML.
It was over the moment the first wedding cake box was open on Lup Chai day.
Then it progressively got worse until today... Tonight's dinner was fried baby squid, chai tao kway, BBQ chicken wings, seaweed fried rice, vegetarian egg noodles, and curry vegetables with mantou.
Heh.
There were also plenty of CNY goodies lying around the place.
When the Australians are back too, there's an unusual amount of really yummy snacks lying around the house, like Bengawan Solo layer cake that's oily as hell.
Yesterday, for afternoon tea break, i had banchengkway and fried banana fritters. I didn't my #dietfail could get any worse until today haha.

Tomorrow I will go back to Singapore because I start work on Wednesday. :(
After 2 days of doing nothing, I've to brace myself for another busy week.

One down, two to go

One of the 3 big days is over.
It went well, and I'm thankful for the many relatives who turned up to help and to be served tea by me and Markus.

Tomorrow, is the next and to me the most challenging, even though it is not the biggest.
I'm still doing last minute prep... and boy, preparing the playlist for tomorrow made me realize there are so many sad love songs/breakup songs compared to happy love songs.
It is really important to go through lyrics right til the very last line.
That was how my heart broke when I realized Forever Love by Gary Barlow is a very sad song :(

The army behind me

Had a conference call with my emcees. They're steering the program in the right direction!

My montage is almost ready, thanks to Noi who's been working hard at it. Impressive given the very short work-notice period.

My signage, done by Michelle. She was doing a few things for the first time. Even so, I love what she has done! She had to lug the big board up the plane to bring it over to me... and a few small dramas later (no paint, wrong brush) it is all done! Board will be unveiled on 7.1.17.

The husband is sending me home tomorrow so that I can do more preparations.

Mum, running around doing all the bookings and ferrying.

At this time too, three big pimples came to join my New Year's party. Damn.
