Sangriaaaaaa

Feels like a damn good holiday!

The crew and I met up in the evening and headed to the beach.
The guys are HOT AS HELL!!! I'm saying like hot hot hot. There were 8 of us girls, and 4 guys had to - out of obligation - come with us as escorts... But poor them. We made their egos deflate to the size of a sesame seed. It was so much fun just hanging out at the beach and dude-watch.
Where we ate, at the boardwalk of the beach, the girls took up all the sea-view while the guys had to have their backs towards the gorgeous view.

You all will see, when I get my hands on this photo that my colleague took. We dubbed the subject of the photo the God of Barcelona.
You just wait for it.

And it was Sangria and more Sangria at dinner, and even more Sangria after dinner.
I betcha there will be more to come tomorrow and the day after!

How do you expect to be respected

The city has come a long, long way but the people are notoriously known for being rude, for their exceeding love to complain, inconsideration and many other horrible characteristics.

My uncle, an accountant in a western city, told me he and his accountant friends some times meet up to talk about stuff and their clients. They constantly rank their XX country clients as the undisputed worst. Calculative, complaining about every thing and expect $2 of service out of the $1 they pay for.

In a flight that is typically a white-man's flight, there was a sudden influx of people from XX country. Crew had a mild heart attack when we saw them at the check-in row.

In the plane, before take off, these people of about 4 rows were standing and shouting at each other while the poor white men sat and looked, wondering how much worse the flight was going to get.
Freaking shouting at each other because of seat allocations.
KAMON!

And when a crew was temporarily blocking the aisle serving another passenger, 3 XX women said very loudly, "EXCUSE ME EXCUSE ME EXCUSE ME" and squeezed their way through.
wtf.

And countless other stories abound from that flight.

No wonder their city's icon is perpetually vomitting.

Chicabomb

Every night I waste the hours away just listening to my headphones!
Nights when all the crew go back to their rooms and crash I just stay up and listen to songs….
Like last night, after touching down from Houston, the crew went for dinner and by 9 p.m. were already fast asleep. I checked in at 4.30 p.m., skipped dinner and listened to my MP3s till midnight, then I wake up the next day without enough rest from the night before.

Gone Overbudget

FREAKING HOT IN HOUSTON!

It is 37 degrees every day outside... Feels just like Dubai!

This is supposed to be a flight that I save money.
I changed US$500 for the whole flight which I thought should be sufficient, if I shop moderately.

I guess not...

I'm still kicking myself for what happened at 7 For All Mankind today. I was paying for a pair of jeans and another pair of long pants when the bill came to an incredibly low figure. As the items were on sale the cashier didn't even think there was anything wrong with the number. I was so shocked that I went "What??!" like two or three times, and each reply I got from the cashier was louder than the one before. I could have just shut my mouth, paid up and left the store. But I was thinking hell if that pair of jeans is so damn cheap I'm getting another for my sister! I actually asked the cashier, "How is it that it's so cheap? Isn't it $XXX?" And the cashier said no it's $XX and I said it cannot be (again, just double checking because if it is so cheap I'm getting another pair). In the end the cashier decided to investigate and realized that it is indeed $XXX.
:(
I could have saved myself $80 bucks if I had shut up! $80!!!

The next store I went to was Ralph Lauren. Again the cashier messed up and this time, I was smarter. I walked out with a polo tee for free since she only keyed in the price for one.

All that aside, I spent almost double my budget for the trip, mainly because of the headphones and the jeans.

I went to Bose today to try on the QuietComfort (3 and the new 15) headsets that so many of my passengers use. They are indeed awesome. A pair costs $300 though and I can't justify spending RM1000 for a pair of headphones yet.

Do I look like a DJ?

Hullo!

I ditched the idea of buying a pair of Dr. Dre Beats Solo.
Because while many people say it sounds great, there's a huge durability problem. It is known that some have gone through as many as 5 pairs and it always breaks at the same place. One guy even said his broke after 12 hours 0f very careful use.

Anyway, check out my new professional DJ pair of headphones.
Not convincing enough?

How about when I put one of the swivel ear cups to use?

It's one of those headphones that many DJs will at least own once in their life (and will probably always have one around), the Sony MDR-V700DJ. It's pretty much a standard in the DJ world.
I don't know why I'll need a DJ pair of headphones... but you should know I'm pretty anal when it comes to sound. I can't wait to find a place to use this pair of headphones with its 50mm driver. I think that will be the day my head turns jelly from the bass kicking in at full power.

If you are going to comment on how chubby I've gotten, don't bother. I already know that. I blame my new found love (from downright detest) of BUTTER and my new landlady/landlord who feed me too much good food.

p/s: David Guetta's never sounded better!

The perfect man

This man has it all, brains and brawns.
Mr. Man Hunt 2011!

Have you seen Hanson lately?

Catch them, as themselves, in Katy Perry's new video, Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.).

My batch girl, who was on my flight, just went home with the set that is flying back to Singapore.
Her grandmother passed away. My set will now proceed to Houston tomorrow with one crew down. Hopefully the company will send one girl to Houston today to continue the rest of the flight with us from there.

That could have been me, you know. I was supposed to go to Copenhagen when my late grandma was in hospital. She passed away during the time when I was supposed to be in Copenhagen. I believe if I had done the flight I would have arrived in Copenhagen, turned on my mobile, and gotten the bad news.

Hmm.

:(

Actually, when I was in my first year of flying, I could tell my late grandmother didn't like me flying much. She always asked me what will happen if I'm away during an emergency at home.
I guess she knew in her mind that in the next few years something might happen and she didn't want me to be so far away when it happened.

Hmmmm.

Im gonna stop writing.

Everyday I'm shufflin'

Very very tempted to get a pair of Dr. Dre Beats!

But why so pricey :(

I know I should get the headphones but they are so bulky... don't fit in my handbags very well.
Maybe I should get the Justin Bieber purple pair hahaha no I'm just kidding.
I'm looking at the Beats Solo HD.
200 dollars.

*chants* Save money, save money, save money...

B Москве

Back in the city that is dusty, strange, full of beautiful long-legged women and one of a kind.

While most metropolis of the world look the same, feel the same and sound the same, Moscow is beyond different when compared to other cities.
While most city folks are stressed and cold, Muscovites are colder than cold. Maybe because of the language barrier as well.
A very typical response when you ask a waiter or hotel staff for something, you will just get a slight nod and pressed lips with no eye contact.
Other than people, the whole city just looks and feels different from others... Not a big fan, honestly.

To make coming to Moscow more dreadful, the bus rides from the Domodedovo airport is always excruciating.
My record was a 3-hour bus ride. Typically it's 2 hours but is shorter during summer.
However today it did hit 2 hours. Even though all of us emptied our bladder before getting off the plane (knowing it's going to be one helluva long ride), we still had to run to the loo upon reaching the hotel. Was so tired by the end of the flight but I actually woke up from a nap on the bus, refreshed, and we still hadn't reached the hotel yet. Pffft.

One more such ride to endure when I come back from Houston, damn it.

Finally going to Tokyo's Shinjuku next month. I've only been to Narita and Tokyo's Haneda, but never been to the much talked about Shinjuku which is the real Tokyo.
Cannot wait!
And LA too, finally.
To be honest I'm not a States person. I'd rather go to Europe any day.
Very tempted to change that flight away for a Paris or London... will I ever go to Shinjuku if I miss out on this chance?

Melbourne

Was called up pretty last minute on Friday during my standby to go to Melbourne. I was hoping that it would turn out to be a peaceful no call-up day so that I can enjoy the three hidden off days that followed.

But well, it was Melbourne, and FINALLY, on a weekend.
Caught up with my oldest friend (our friendship goes 21 years back man) who is only in Melbourne on weekends.

I got lost again damnit. So embarrassing. 25 years of age and still getting lost like a man who refuse to ask for directions.
The first time I took a train on my own I got lost and ended up in.... the middle of nowhere, on my way to Mount Waverley.
This time, taking the tram on my own for the first time, again I ended up in Richmond when I should have been at St. Kilda Road.

I am glad to know everyone in Melbourne is doing so well.
My old friend Evelyn is doing perfectly well being a dentist who works only four days a week and can indulge in her expensive tastes, and the other friend that I met up with already has two companies to his name.

And where am I?
Sigh.

Edit: Just read that Qantas flights in and out of Melbourne have been cancelled because of volcanic ash particles from Chile. In fact, this morning the fog was so heavy that my flight was delayed a bit. I was thinking to myself I really couldn't decide if I wanted to be stranded in Melbourne at this time or not. I want to be, so that I can meet up with sooo many people while I'm there, for once. At the same time I have to come back to Singapore otherwise I won't be able to do my next flight which pays a lot. I hope for some reason, my next Melbourne will have an extra long stay.

NEXT MONTH DUDES AND SHEILAS! Melbourne and Sydney!! Just like in May.

Crikey, name tag should come with a little Aussie flag!

"Best in Singapore and JB! And some say Batam!"

That quote is such a trademark of the man in yellow boots, Phua Chu Kang also fondly known as Kang Kang.

Watch the contractor and all his silly antics in 100% Singaporean style here now (complete series, season 1-8).

Solid driver

Solid car too. I bet if that were a Proton the bumper and then the bonnet would have given way!

Too cool!

Tweetday [Updated]

Touched down after an overnight turnaround (the kind of flight that takes the worst toll on the body) and faced with a long(er) journey back to the heaven that is my bed, I read my emails and tweets in the cab while my new regular cabby yaks off about.... very trivial stuff.

I remember thinking how the tweets I was reading this morning were quite amusing.
First was that the first episode of Sex And The City debuted 13 years ago today.
THIRTEEN YEARS AGO??? And to think I only saw the series last year -_____-
The fashion was strange, but definitely did not look 13 years old. This shows how far ahead of time those girls were.

Next amusing tweet was by Sir Richard Branson.
It read: 30 years ago got turned away by a club for wearing jeans, later that year bought the same club…
Next tweet: Now jeans no problem! Tonight celebrating 30th anniversary of the Roof Gardens.

Amazing shit!
Now if only we could all do that right. For every shit service we encounter, we make them see darkness forever and after.
(Off the top of my head: Hermes, Hilton Brisbane)

Later in the afternoon, I finally caught up with the major announcement by Apple.
iCloud.
Because having all your things at one place is not good enough.
Because everything should be conveniently stored in this one cloud that follows you wherever you go.... (actually, it's called your Apple ID).
Very exciting yo!

Next big news: OS X LION.
ROAAAR.

I'm on the OS X Snow Leopard, which will very soon make way for the Lion because update costs only $29 instead of the usual $100. Release is scheduled for July.
$29 seems like peanuts when you think of the good things that comes with the Lion: Air Drop (peer-to-peer wifi among Mac users, good for sharing movies I reckon), Mission Control, etc.

ps: Congratulations to the Mongrel who achieved an almost-perfect score in her Econs paper!!

Update: iOS5. Madness. So much goodies packed into one OS. Whatsapp might just become redundant (since I hear it is not supported on iPads) and we'll be wondering why we ever paid 99c for it when iMessaging lets you do all the same for free. And since it's launching this fall, I'm pretty sure those rumours about iPhone 5 being released this September is true.

One hot afternoon

It is sweltering hot outside.
Too hot to be outside but one gets so lethargic also being inside, especially at grandma's house. Many of us have concluded that there is not enough oxygen in this house, where the doors and windows are shut tight because there are just too many mosquitoes outside!!

Mum and Auntie Eng are both asleep on different ends of the sofa, Anlynn is coaching young master Kee math while Yo-Yo is playing online games. I am sitting in a corner, regretting not to have brought my laptop with me :(

Was helping dad upgrade his browser this morning after I read news that Google is forcing its users to use the latest versions of their browser. Then it occured to me how 10 years ago, the typical browser was Internet Explorer while Netscape Navigator was on its way out. The movie player to have was XingMPEG. The only good burner was Nero. Every student had a copy of Encarta encyclopedia installed in the one PC that was shared amongst all members of the family. Search was powered by Infoseek or Yahoo! Most of us dialed to 1511 (Jaring) or 1515 (TMNet) to go on 56 kbps speed. Those who had a 56 Kbps modem were the envy of 28.8 Kbps users. Every month we would have to remember to "top up" credit with Jaring otherwise there will be hell on weekends. Socially outcast while friends logged on to mIRC to show off their latest scripts. Being socially there meant being an "operator" or "op", so that you can kick and ban people who "flood" the channels.
Looking at my dad's wide-screen monitor I recalled how having a 17" CRT monitor was everything.

Those were the days!

The Despot Index

I saw this in an old issue of Newsweek... Interesting article, that one. Even more interesting?
The 'Legit Pal' of Mugabe.

Malaysians should be so ashamed.
