I know I'm stressed

Because I've been shopping everywhere I go.
In one week, I've shopped from Sydney to Singapore to Shanghai.
I just can't be stopped. I'm just spending more than I should and more than I normally would

Don't feel like working

Today is one of those days I don't feel like going to work.
I would like to lie in bed all day and not talk to anyone.
I've been up since 1 am.
3 more minutes before the alarm goes off. 

Merry Christmas!!!

This year is probably the earliest I've ever crossed Christmas after being called up to Sydney hours before the flight on Christmas Eve.

It isn't such a bad call-up.
I arrived in Sydney on Xmas eve morning and then I get to stay for 24 hours, go back as a passenger and have Boxing Day off. For  once, I didn't have to worry about sleeping enough before my flight back to Singapore.

With that said, I could stay out pretty late last night. I went out with Ben Jinn to see a few sights like the light show (we merely drove past it because we couldn't find parking)  at St Mary's Catherdral that's only up for this festive season and also a lookout point to appreciate Sydney's Harbour.

 I am only 2 weekends away from my first banquet.
I haven't scanned a single photo for my montage - I've only just managed to borrow a scanner from Hsin Ching, I haven't found a song for the montage and my march-in(s), nor have I gone for a gown fitting.
The nerves should kick in pretty soon.

Tomorrow is the day I'm hoping to get a lot done. 

Hens party

The day has ended.
What was suppose to be a hens night party became more than that.
My friends surprised me with their arrangements which saw them taking MC and using up their annual leave to spend the next day together too.
I'm so incredibly touched. I know it took them a lot of effort - one even flew in from Hong Kong - and money.
I feel blessed, and I'm forever grateful for their love.

I felt sad when it came to goodbyes because we really don't meet up as often anymore. And when we said goodbye, Chin Shi went straight to the airport for her flight back to HK. Even though it's 3.5 hours away it is still too far.

I just wanna see them, all five of them, once in a concert before they get enlisted!! WHY SO HARD??
By chance, did they share the same fortune teller as mine and picked the same weekends to hold their concerts? Must be bloody auspicious dates then.

UNBELIEVABLE. I am just not fated to attend their concerts. (The one in KL is not counted because that was a fan-meet and TOP wasn't present.)

Christmas this year

To be honest I have not yet played a single Christmas tune this year. I have other things at hand to be playing - yes, the bride-to-be is still busy searching for the songs to her big day! T__T

All the Christmas songs I've been hearing so far are just at the malls.

Oh, speaking of malls. I saw this cutest star at the top of a Christmas tree.

Last dance

bigbang released their last single at midnight before TOP gets conscripted.

It's a double single. "Last Dance" is so sad. That last scene is a heartbreaker.

Suddenly, it's almost the end of this stay at Copenhagen.
Thought I'd do nothing. But eventually I went down town and I love the people here!! Again the best parts of traveling are some times the food and the sights, but nothing is as unique as its people.
Will have to work very hard on tomorrow's flight back. CPH flights have a rep of its own.

Not including the current Japan Dome tours where they're playing three shows each weekend at every city. 

D-4 days to the release of Bigbang's new album online!

On my second day of doing nothing in CPH

It's suppose to be a relaxing 4 days before the buzz of activities this weekend. I even brought with me my aroma diffuser and essential oils to relax.
But all that tranquility is disturbed because,
‪I was forced to realize that I've too many relatives and each one wants an opinion on how to run my wedding. ‬

I swear by Jan 2017, I'll be a much stronger person who's not gonna givadamn about a lot of people's opinions. 

My Christmas present this year

is love!

I had mentioned to Markus before that I'd like noise-cancelling headphones because on my journeys between Singapore and BP, I normally have to play my music really loud to cancel out the chatter in the car and also the loud music that the drivers play. Also the case when I fly, I have to turn up the volume to drown the whirring of the engines. 

Markus asked which brand I would like so I said probably a Sony. He went to several stores to try the different noise-cancelling headphones without my knowledge. I myself hadn't even tried out a single pair but I told him one of those $200+ pair should be good. I've a pair of DJ headphones from Sony that I love to death that cost about that price so I reckoned the sound quality should be pretty similar.....

He couldn't be sure that I'd like the sound so eventually he brought me to a Sony Center to try the headphones out myself. Turns out I was not too impressed with the noise-canceling ability of the pair I had in mind. 

Then the store assistant said we've to try on one pair, even though it's OUT OF STOCK. 

WE WERE BLOWN AWAY. 

I was so tickled when I saw what appeared to be the two men miming away while discussing the headphones. 

And the best part???? 

When I wish to listen to the outside world, I just have to cup my hand over the right side of the headphone and the outside world will be loud and clear!! 

The price though was a major put-off. It definitely wasn't what I expected to pay. 

But Markus said if I really like it, he would rather buy me this than a sub-par noise-cancelling headphones. 

So which pair of headphones is this? 

He asked if I would like this, the 1000x, or a Bose QuietComfort 35. I know I want to enjoy my music. I'll take a Sony. . 

And may I also add, after reading reviews, almost 95% of reviews called this the real contender or even finally a winner, over the Bose QC35, the undisputed noise-cancelling headphones for the looooooongest time. 

Noise-cancelling wise, this wins. Music sound wise, this wins. Looks wise, this wins. 

It was very hard to get this pair. Markus called all the Sony Centers and retailers in Singapore. It's sold-out islandwide. Only the airport has stock in black. The only place that had it in this beige, the last piece at that, was in Jurong. So off this boy drove to IMM in Jurong to buy this. The shop assistant told Markus that just the day before, 6 sets had arrived and in just that short time they're down to the last set. 

I'm extremely pleased with it :))) 

It has all the fancy shmancy technology which is very useful. 

Cup your hand over the right ear to hear the outside world instantly while the music goes very soft. 

Tap on the right ear piece to pause the music or answer a call. 

Swipe up, down, right and left on the same ear piece to increase volume, decrease volume, skip to next song and go back to previous song respectively. 

There are also different types of noise-cancelling abilities such as the mode where it can drown out all noise except voices. Ah huh! Just when people think you can't hear them speak...... #spymode. I've tried this out and it definitely works. 

The Bluetooth signal is very stable and I've never experienced a skip or disturbance at all.
While most noise-cancelling earphones work to actively produce opposite sound waves in order to cancel out noise, the 1000x has another technology where it also has mics inside that measure the shape of your head, if you wear glasses, etc in order to better cancel noise. 

The best best best best best part of this is, it plays High Res Audio. 

Reviewers who have heard high res songs with the headphones say it is like being in the studio of the recording. 

And so my hunger for high res audio has begun too. 

The day Sony comes out with a High Res Walkman (already there are) that supports apps (still not in the market..I need my Spotify) will be the day I trade my iPod for a Walkman.

It's almost Christmas

Markus said if I stayed home today to rest (instead of going to work) he will give me my Christmas present in advance.
After waiting and waiting.... I thought he has forgotten his promise. Hence I messaged him.

Besides ironing day, today is also gift-wrapping day! 

Just me, my ironing and Mozart

I have taken sick leave today. I believe it's my first for the year. I caught a common cold and I'm feeling so lethargic.
My flight was suppose to be early this morning and I doubt that I could have made it. Anyway I do feel better now.
So it's me and a pile of clothes to iron, while listening to Mozart on this wet and gloomy day.

 The last two times I ironed my clothes, I damaged one piece on each occasion. I'm crossing my fingers that I don't damage any this time.

This is also probably the last time I'll be doing ironing in this house (since I iron about two-three months once?). Sorry - not feeling any kind of nostalgia for it, in case you're fooled by the previous line. I'm just happy I don't have to worry about this iron damaging more precious clothes (yes they're precious if I bother ironing them). 

Psy

My colleague on this last flight looks so much like Psy!! The moment he walked into the briefing room, I wanted to laugh out loud!

When he sat across the room, I studied his smile and his facial expressions, and I could barely keep it in. I asked him during our first quiet moment together if anyone ever told him he looks like Psy. He said all the time! 

The first time someone told him was when he was serving a Prince of A Neighbouring Kingdom. The Prince asked him what he was doing there (onboard in the uniform). The Prince then went to tell the Princesses something and they started laughing. The Prince then asked my colleague where were his sunglasses... then the princesses played the Gangnam Style video to show my colleague. That was the first time he had heard of Psy and since then, the comments have never stopped.

Moving on... I would like to know what car this is. I'm sure all the sisters I know would like one.

Eating ramyeon and watching K-drama

It's 2.17 am in Moscow and I've to fly back to Singapore later. Not caring about sleep because I will not be working!
(I am not a fan of cup noodles so I don't even know why I bought this. Anyway watching drama while eating cup noodles is overrated.)

I hope to sleep very well during the flight because it's gonna be one busy day for me when I arrive in Singapore. It is moving day, whereby I will be moving some of my stuff over to Markus'. 5.5 years of junk to move, it'll definitely take a while so I'll start tomorrow.

Meanwhile getting really pissed at Grand Hyatt. They haven't been impressing me at all and this is pissing me off because this is MY WEDDING. Their only saving grace is the food so they better get it right. Many people have commented that food there is good so if it can't even impress me with the food, then I will not recommend anyone this venue. Having to deal with shit ugly invitation cards at the eleventh hour (exactly TWO months) before the big day is just....:@

Cheating men

My heart broke into a hundred pieces when I heard Lin Dan cheated on his wife while she was pregnant. She gave birth to their first child a little more than a week ago.
It broke because I felt so sorry for her, and for all women who've had their husbands cheat on them when they were pregnant and/or tending to their new born.
Too many cases, all too many times, men including celebrities cheat on their amazing and beautiful wives during that time.

While the wife felt like an elephant, fought the hormonal mood swings, dealt with health problems associated with pregnancy, slept badly as she was unable to lie in one position for more than a few minutes at night because of the weight of the stomach, abstained from things that might have kept her happy previously like alcohol and coffee (the latter applicable only to the Chinese), and soooo much more, just to bring to the world THEIR child safely. The most important moment in a woman's life, and possibly the happiest she will ever feel, crushed because of the man's inability to stay at home with her and understand what she was going through.
At the same time, all women run the risk of post-natal depression. This just made it so much worse.
This cheating man robbed his wife of the most fulfilling time in a woman's life as she thought her family was whole.

I really can't say enough how bad I feel for Lin Dan's wife and all other women who have gone through similar experiences.
This is just the beginning for her. I wish them well.

What moon.

It's been raining the whole day in Seoul. It stopped two hours ago but it's now foggy. There is no moon in sight! My hotel lobby is on the 41st floor with all-around glass - and it's just all fog.

In Singapore it's raining too. So no moon.
So is the case in Batu Pahat.

What a fruitful day today has been!!!
I learned today that shopping at Edae is so awesome. 

1 degree in Seoul

Two days ago was really cold in Seoul. I think it was about 3 degrees Celsius when I went out at 4 pm. That day the low was suppose to be zero degrees Celsius.

I had gone out to Myeongdong buy a pair of boots because I had a suede pair which turned moldy two winters ago. Seeing that I'll be in Copenhagen next month, I should really get a new pair of flat boots.

But there just weren't any boots to be found! In ABC Mart, there were a grand total of 4 pairs of boots. In those random shoe shops, they were still selling every day court shoes, ballet flats and booties.

The perplexed me looked at the Korean colleague and asked where are all the boots?!
Korean colleague says, "It's still autumn so they're still selling autumn shoes. Winter starts December 1."

It was 1 degrees (by 8 pm it was) and nobody wants to sell (and wear!!!!) boots because it's not yet officially winter?!
After she said that I looked around me and noticed that she was right. It's still autumn and NO ONE in the whole of Myeongdong (and the train load of people back to Yeouido) were wearing boots.

Speechless man. Never seen or heard anything like this before. And that's how I couldn't get my pair of boots in Seoul.

Today the sun in LA was scorching hot. 33 degrees Celsius this afternoon - no joke in California because the sky here is pretty much cloudless always.

As we were on the way back to the hotel from shopping, a colleague commented that she should have brought her umbrella. I laughed. I was like, "It's LA! You dare to bring one out?"
I mean there are just certain places in the world where you don't pull out your umbrella to shield from the sun, even if you've to melt or die from skin cancer.
She replied, "Of course! I don't care one. There was once (at the old hotel) when I walked to Del Amo with an umbrella and someone drove passed and honked at me. He wound down his window and shouted, 'Hey! This is California! Enjoy the sun!'"

Blah day

Top news stories for the day look like rubbish headlines.
Facebook feed filled with rubbish. It's all about the new President of the USA and how he won't against Hillary. America was suppose to vote between the lesser of two evils but they chose the devil!
Now for his economy this new President will increase industrial output while undoing the work Obama had in place to reduce carbon emissions.
Yes that's my biggest gripe with him. He doesn't believe in global warming. And what the President of USA say and decides on, affects the world.

And in a few hours I'll be arriving in the USA that has deeply disappointed the world.

Like that la, Bigbang. it's just not meant to be.

Their 0TO10 concert in Seoul was on my audit flight which is impossible to change away.
After all the touring (November and December doing the Japan Dome) they will again be back in Seoul for two nights in January ("0TO10 THE FINAL) - on my BP wedding weekend!
ARGH!

This is before TOP enters military service, most likely in January also.

Two months

Exactly two months now to the Chinese betrothal day "lap cai".
Thankfully, today mum has found all her dresses for both banquets.

On my plate now: deciding the menu for both banquets, the table layout and floral arrangers of Singapore banquet, and also to speak with the florist in BP.
AMONGST OTHER MAJOR THINGS.

Also will need to buy the betrothal gifts when I next go back to BP.

I feel like I need to rope in a digital assistant too.

You know... some pieces of art are priced beyond my wildest imagination. Some abstract pieces may be truly a work of genius which I have not learned to apprehend. People look at those and see things which I cannot see. And I also wonder how those are painted, because it must require some kind of creativity to create those paintings.

However THIS one is mind-boggling.

A 10-year old could have drawn this. It could have been any primary school kid's drawing. Yet it sold for £2,434,500. This is Jean-Michel Basquiat's Infantry.

I'll ask my nephew to draw me something like this in future in exchange for a toy truck. 

Petrol price revision

For Malaysians, it is that time of the year again: petrol prices have increased once more!

I know of someone whose period doesn't even come as regularly as the petrol price hikes in Malaysia.

Nano comes out of hibernation

There are times in my life when I need my iPod Nano.
I think the time has come for it to serve its mistress again. Hardly used, it's normally chucked in a place that renders it completely forgotten, easily for months to years at a time. Its small storage does not make it useful enough for me to use it on a daily basis. But when the occasion calls for it, the 8GB storage is still good enough.

Don't judge! This cable is my old iPod's, making it approximately 9 years old
hence the discoloration. 

Don't you love the yellow colour? It is so pop!

Looking now to buy an iPod Touch since my iPod 5th Gen has seen better days. If only the Touch comes in yellow, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Unfortunately not a fan of any of the colours currently on retail.

Edit: Listening to songs on the Nano now reminds me of something I had concluded before - the Nano produces much better sound than the iPod (the old ones at least) and iPhone. So much ooomph on the Nano, like a cili padi.

What I really really really dislike about my rank

Being promoted means I've to assess other crew PFFFFT.
I really hate it.
Firstly I don't like to assess people (other than in my head). Secondly I love this job because there's no homework! But of course that has now changed. Now I'm still awake at 4.24 am (Indian time) because I'm writing a check report which isn't the easiest in the world. It's easy to give good appraisals. Bad appraisals, really tough.

Don't give me anymore assessment reports to do for the rest of the year, please.
I just wanna relax in my Marriott bed. 

Panic is kicking in

Less than 3 months to the Singapore banquet. A tonne of things that I've yet to do.
And I've not much time in Singapore and BP to get them done.
This is crazy. *pulls hair*

Life of a cabin crew - no time in base!

Off days are packed as f**k!

I love my time overseas as it is indeed the only time to R&R and switch my mind off. Every time I come back I've errands to run and chores to do. Ugh.

All colleagues share the same sentiments. We all lead very relaxed life overseas but the moment we come back to Singapore, we are really just too pressed for time. More so for crew with children, they normally catch up with sleep overseas.

I'm currently blogging this on my maiden trip to JB Larkin from Rochor on CW2.
I really dislike taking bus - too much hassle (I guess there are some people in the world who also complain about taking commercial planes for flights when they normally fly on private jets pfft) and stress.... I've to do this because I need to get my curtains sorted asap. Don't have time to wait till noon for the private cab.
Let's see how many more of such trips I've to make before the big day. 

Photo choosing

Less than a month ago was my pre-wedding photoshoot.

Yesterday, Markus and I went down to select our photos.
Out of the more than 400 photos taken, 199 were selected by the photographer to be edited and then presented to us.

We were very very worried after the photoshoot that the photos will turn out bad. The poses were awkward, and we felt forced to pose all the time. We didn't feel there was any chemistry or any chance for us to be natural in the photos.
Well, guess what. Leave it to the professionals.
Our worries were unfounded, and we were presented with a new set of problems - too many photos that we like.

Our package comes with only 30 photos, and no matter how hard we tried, we just couldn't throw out 150 photos. I had somewhat mentally prepared myself to pay for excess 30 photos (which are at $115++ each) but NOTHING prepared us to pay for 110 photos.
I think as hard as we tried, we still had about 80 photos left.


As I was trying to pick out the photos in the very final round (desperately trying to bring down the number), the consultant was like, "Ah, stop picking them out!! You're going to spoil the flow of the album!!" and then she made a deal with us.
It was not easy financially settling even for the deal. I hope though the albums (yup, from one album it has become two now) will turn out beautifully.


The consultant placed a great deal of importance on the feel of the photos. Turns out that the colour scheme in which the backdrops were chosen in the studio all had some kind of sequence. Then there are the outdoor photos which the consultant said the colours don't blend very well with our indoor set. If we were to make it into one album, the the overall feel wouldn't be nice thus she recommended us to split our photos to two albums.


It's not easy to throw out photos you love.
I can understand now why people feel sad when they're down to that (but it's a better problem to have than to have no good photos to choose from). I've read in forums and heard from the photo consultant that people have even cried as they had to force themselves to leave out photos they love due to financial burden.


It's almost done. 3 months to the big day. I'm glad to have a wonderful photography team behind me!

In Frankfurt, the crew hotel is located just opposite a congress center. When I walk back to the hotel from shopping, I usually bump into people who are there to attend conventions and whatnots.  This time there were many Chinese. And I saw on a quieter side of the Messer Turm, a man just standing around and then...he spit. UGH!  

Tried Magnolia Bakery in Dubai, finally tried the original Magnolia Bakery in New York. I'm signing it off. I probably used up my monthly sugar quota over ONE cupcake. That banana pudding that I had in Dubai probably gave me mild diabetes. 

First class passengers are indeed the nicest. 

Uncle Rick and Auntie Lin are back. Was shocked to find out this is only the second time dad has met Father Ricky. C'mon..... it's not as though Father Ricky doesn't come back to BP....

I don't know if Americans are full of shit or what. I was at Trader Joe's and I saw organic food for pets. (And right outside TJ was a man begging for small change.)

Goodnight. Another half an hour before Xavier wakes the world up. 

Downtown

I normally move about NYC on my own. I don't like having to wait for people or having people to wait for me while I do my shopping.

Since yesterday was the last day of Columbus Day sales, I had already done my shopping right after touch down. That leaves my day today clear with nothing to do. The Body World exhibition that I had planned to go for had ended last month :(

When Yen Chi said she was going down to 21st Street to Trader Joe's, I decided to go with her. Along the way we had breakfast and on our way back we stopped at a few shops to shop and to eat (more).
If you asked me to walk to 21st Street on any other day I would say you're crazy. I'm at a hotel between 44th and 45th, on 8th Avenue. The furthest I normally venture to is Koreantown which is on 32nd street between Fifth and 6th Avenue. I would normally be sick of walking by then because it gets boring and very tiresome dealing with the crowd and the noise of car horns. Never did I imagine that I got to 21st and back fairly quickly, and from 21st, we headed to 56th.

Walked a total of 9.9 km on a chilly but sunny day. Couldn't have asked for better company and weather.

And now my standby in New York starts. Can't go out anymore so I've Running Man to keep me company. Let the laughter begin!

*21st is also in the district of Chelsea, which was a target of terrorists with pressure cookers a few weeks ago. 

Everyone's in HK but me!!!

This weekend I see tooooooo many posts of my friends enjoying their time in Hong Kong, before the big day of Chin Shi tomorrow.

Tomorrow will definitely be havoc because it'll be the first time my friends go through the HK style of gate-crashing and attending a HK wedding.

With much regret, I am not there to be a part of giving my dear Noi away T_____T

I don't know why everyone's just getting married within these few months. SO MANY CLOSE FRIENDS' weddings that I have to miss. :(

While it seems like the world is feasting on dim sum and seafood and French toast and yinyong tea, I'll be having wurst (ha, like real) and beer (ha..)... and lobster roll and donuts... :(

Best pax award

I don't know if I mentioned this before...

Some months ago on a flight to Australia, First Class Passenger 2F who is also Mr. Super Polite gave the crew a box of Godiva chocolates at the end of the flight.
He thanked the crew for taking care of him (aw, *blush* but you're at 2F!). I didn't want to take it but he wouldn't take the chocolate back. He told me to share it with all the crew on the flight.

Well, 4 months later, I received an email from The Company conveying an email that Mr. 2F wrote.
I actually didn't remember who Mr. 2F was. I just happened to trace the crew of the flight (whee, it was a flight where I worked with my batch boy) and then recalled that's the flight we had chocolates to eat in the bus!

Mr. 2F is soooooooo humble, so polite, I couldn't have asked for a better pax. He even took time to email the company to compliment the crew T____T.
I have his name. If I have him on my flight again, I'll give him Super VIP treatment man. Maybe a serving of melted cheese on crackers with sugar hahaha. Or a cup of Teh Tarik.

This time last year

I just touched down from Osaka. This time last year, I was also in Osaka. It was a very special trip, and how coincidental that I should be back in the same place exactly a year on!.

Exactly a year ago, Markus and I made a trip all the way to Uehommachi to have dessert at Nakatani. Luck wasn't on our side as it was their off day. This time, the shop was open so I ate dessert for two!

During that trip, Markus packed a knife so that we could eat honey melon every day hahaha! This time I brought the honey melon back. That time too he drank Calpis every day. Again, I have brought Calpis back with me.

Post-holiday blues

Looking at the pile of laundry from photoshoot day + Taipei trip (that is one stinking pile) and these last two days'.... ughhhh.
I've barely been back at my place for more than 5 hours each time for a while now.

Ah, the fanmeet. As I looked at Taeyang whipping his hair side to side, I'm like, "IS THIS REAL, I'm actually seeing this live?" Lol.

I miss the boys already... I think the fanmeet went even better in Singapore. They even picked 4 fans to go onstage to play games with them T__T

I've not been as furious as I was this morning towards service staff in the longest time.
At 3.30 a.m., I stormed down to the hotel lobby and I demanded to see the duty manager. After 3 calls to them and them being unable to prevent my lights from coming on FULL BLAST on its own, I SHOUTED at him for the next 10 minutes, and I even banged the table. You know, it's really what they say, bang table.
The next morning, I woke up and the hotel pissed me off again, so I called front desk and asked if the duty manager has come in for the morning. This time, instead of making a scene at the lobby, I told her to come to my room. After all, there's good reason because I needed to proof to her what a shit room I got as replacement. You don't give your angry customer another shit room. You just don't do that. I assured her I will be diligently doing a review on my stay at the website where I booked the room.

Bye bye Taipei

Checking our luggage in now. It's been a very blessed trip. Despite forecast of bad weather even post-typhoon, at most we saw only scattered showers that didn't last more than 5 minutes each time. 

We ate and we shopped. 

I learned this trip that my dad, the self-proclaimed thrift, is far from that and he actually bought the most among the 4 of us. Beating me and mum at shopping is a feat and he did it! We opened up two extra bags for this flight back. 

 

Even our Uber driver was surprised at the number of bags for merely a 3 day trip.

What was really funny was when Markus came to pick me, he said he was feeling really nervous. When he was driving,he said he had butterflies in his stomach. He didn't even feel this way on the day of our ROM.


For someone who's always awkward in photos and never smiled in photos until he met me, he actually did very well! I felt he took instructions a lot better than I did from the photographer.


Off to Taipei tomorrow morning!
Today's latest news - typhoon to hit Taiwan at noon tomorrow. SHIT.
It's suppose to be a trip that I reward myself with a lot of oily street food, but I ended up having to go to the 24 hour supermarket to buy cup noodles because the weather forecast seems realllllly bad. And you know what I'm most upset about? If I really have to eat cup noodles in Taiwan, as though Taiwan doesn't have better cup noodles.... Just that getting to a 7-11 will be a deadly challenge.

If this isn't a crisis I don't know what is. Photoshoot is in a few hours time, I have to leave the house in an hour. I woke up earlier to iron my clothes required for the photoshoot but the damn iron damaged the skirt I need for the photoshoot!!!!

It was an abduction and murder that gripped the nation. It was on the front page of newspapers, her pretty face accompanied the development of the drama.

If I remember right, it was her case that eventually started off a string of shopping mall carpark crimes.

'Twas my last flight yesterday before a very exciting week begins!

Last night I also had to change away my San Francisco flight (my heart, arh!) in order to get my offdays to see BIGBANG.
It happens to be the last Seoul-San Francisco everrrr (there will no such flight after next month) yet I gave it away. Priorities T___T

Monday is Photoshoot Day, so Tuesday starts the week-long binging in Taipei and then Singapore.

Not like I've been dieting per se but it's been a while since Markus and I have allowed ourselves to have a buffet...

 Today though, not so exciting. I've been pretty exhausted due to lack of sleep so I woke up late and I'll be trying to cram lyrics for the next few hours.

Two days ago, I started on my first episode of Running Man. Yup, 6 years late but better late than never!
This is the funniest shit I've seen in a loooooong time!

Wtf moments in one day

1. Am I the only one in the world who actually keeps chat logs??? I've been a chat log hoarder since MSN Messenger days. My Whatsapp chat history goes back to the day I first had Whatsapp. It's important to have these logs because you don't know when evidence is in there - yeah I might need to sue someone some day who knows?

2. Brangelina no more, shocker. Meanwhile, Jennifer Aniston is having a drink with a bitch whose name starts with K and ends with A. 

3. Another shocking realization today - the windows in Markus' room!!! WHO MAKES WINDOWS (answer: HDB) THAT GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE END OF A WALL? No matter what kinda super blackout curtains I'm gonna use, light will still creep in! Isn't it common sense the curtain rail or curtain rod should be slightly longer, even by a few centimeters, than a window? I stared at it in disbelief because indeed his curtain on the rod stops a few inches before the end of the window. Argh. Now I've to find out the price of fixing blinds for the room. 

This past weekend

1. Anlynn got her iPhone 7 Plus on US/AUS/SG/CHN launch day, in BP! I am certain she was the only one in BP to have it that day. Lucky her. It's not even launched in Malaysia yet, wtf.

2. Xavier can speak so much now, though it seems like he's always after some kind of drink or other.

3. Speaking of Xavier, his drool inked itself forever on the handle of my LV bag.

4. Finally found a bed. Bed-hunting has been tough (as though trying to work within budget and design and comfort wasn't tough enough, I had other aspects to abide to i.e. superstitions) but I AM SO RELIEVED THAT'S DONE.

5. Next is to settle the wardrobe, dresser and side tables, as the budget gets smaller.

6. Shops in BP open ridiculously late, at 12 p.m. What kinda business do they expect to run?

7. My gel nail kit is finally back from London T__T No more chipped nails, and most importantly, no more split nails.

8. Markus' hair salon uses only the new Dyson hairdryer. Apparently, Dyson decided to sponsor the hairdryers.

9. I had wanted to buy a bottle of peanut butter yesterday at AEON Big (formerly Carrefour). When I got there there was only one bottle of peanut butter left in the size I wanted - and it was opened and consumed. I can't imagine who would open a bottle of peanut butter in the supermarket and take a finger to swipe some peanut butter. I mean, that person must have been seriously hungry!!

10. I formatted by tablet because I keep having problems with my downloaded dramas. After formatting, I still have the same shitty problem - it happens only after I transfer them to my external SD card. Without a doubt now, it's the damn external SD card. I don't know how many precious hours I've spent downloading and redownloading the dramas - and I still can't watch them!

Round isn't always better

These things most likely come in a cylindrical bottle/round caps. 

You don't know how annoying it is, and how wonderful angled caps are until you have your hands greasy with hand cream. 

Fashion Week kicks off in NYC

It's already towards the end of New York Fashion Week! 

Happy to see many flower elements (prints, embroidery, sewn-on flowers) for next spring. HUZZAH! 

The problem with buying too many Japanese clothes is that my wardrobe lacks flowers -.- 

Too much zen. 

Also extremely happy to see loose-fitting clothes, like really loose pants. There, all my loose pants will seem slightly more fashionable come spring. 

The real wait though, is to see what comes up at the Milan and Paris shows later this month.

EL ranks highly among my favourite makeup brands (can't do without the eye cream too - I get into panic mode when I run out of it) and I have too many of EL lipsticks. EL has really pretty lip colours. Estée Lauder's foundation is also THE BEST. And I truly genuinely mean, the best. (If you need coverage, that is.)

The mono shadow packaging for VBxEL looks great. Can't wait to check out the colours in person. 

Mummies

Last week, I visited the British Museum and was super intrigued and spooked by the mummies section. 

For a few, the linens were slightly torn, and there was one of an old lady whose body was so intact that it's hard to imagine that was mummified. I always thought the bodies would rot under all the wrapping and all that would be left are bones. But no, from what I learned, there's a layer of resin in the cloth that's used to wrap the corpse so eventually this resin preserves the body and that's how the body of the old woman in the British Museum looked so intact. Her face, still there. Oh my gosh... There was a cavity somewhere near her pelvic bone - that cavity was used to remove all the intestines and fluids. 

The BRAINS of mummies were removed through the nose by a tool, and this the scientists knew because in one of the mummies they found, the CT scan showed a metal rod in the skull where the brain would have been. It was probably a careless undertaker whose rod broke and was left behind.

Having the chills as I write this in my hotel room.

September sure is flying by very quickly. 

I arrived from London on Saturday morning. Slept and woke up in the afternoon, went furniture shopping till the shops closed. On Sunday, Mum and Lynn were here, together with Auntie Eng, to buy stuff for the wedding. After they left, Markus and I went for dinner and I knocked out in the car on the way to meet our photographer. After a discussion with Mr Photographer, I went back to the in-law's place and crashed for another 3 hours. 

Today I've to fly off again to Milan. 

It's so tiring. On my off days the schedule is so packed. 

Wedding planning and my job don't quite go hand in hand. 

7th

So excited I can barely sleep. 

Looking at videos of BB's fanmeets in Macau last weekend (3 shows I think) and I feel so hyped about the KL one already!!

Also today spoke to my Taiwanese colleague about my tour guide for this month's holiday in Taipei... Poor chap always misunderstood. I feel he deserves a Bengawan Solo layer cake. 

This weekend - photographer discussion. Hopefully will have some time to see furniture. And then maybe on Sunday, check out my maid-of-honour's dress. 

Speaking of my MoH, it's so strange to be in London without her. 

I already foresee myself coming back to the hotel every day before 7 p.m. 

....

Looking at the new Aussie 5 dollar bill, Markus made a comment: "She (The Queen, how blatantly rude) looks like she's put on weight."

Great Fire of London

A 120 meter-long wooden replica of London was built and then burned, just to retell the Great Fire.

Was there such a need to??? 

In this day and age when people are trying to be green and environmentally conscious, they used so much wood and resources to build the replica only to burn it, emitting all the greenhouse gases. 

Can this ever be justified? 

What's the point of retelling the Great Fire this way? Are people going to be more patriotic? Are they going to learn to be more conscious of wooden structures? I doubt at all. It's just pointless.

One of the biggest PITA when it comes to choosing paint colours and furniture colours for a room: The door of the room is brown.

Random happenings of the day

- Sold an old tube of cleanser which was almost binned. Got $10 for it. Not too bad! That paid for my dinner. 

- No more mosquito repellants and patches in Changi airport. Not in the pharmacies, not in Watsons, not in the supermarket. Oh guess what? No more in Mustafa too. 

- Pre-ordered a BIGBANG lightstick (the ones fans waive in the concerts) online today. When I told Markus about it, he excitedly asked, "Do I have one too?????"

- Wore jeans the entire day today. So I'm not sure why I've a mosquito bite on my shin... And I'm worried. -.- sorry but I do live in the East! 

- Jay Chou was in Orchard Road the same time I was there. Didn't know he was there till I left. 

- Beds are so hard to buy. So are wardrobes 

- Will try to buy mosquito repellants in Shanghai tomorrow. That's the beauty of my job.

I'll be moving in with the in-laws after my wedding in the interim while Markus and I find our own nest. 

Nervous as shit. 

The original plan was just bulldozed, sigh, and I really haven't got a choice now. 

The only consolation is that I have been given consent to pick out the new furniture in the room, paint colours and of course curtains.  

To be honest I don't feel comfortable spending a lot of money on the room because one, it's not for long term and two, it's my in-laws' money. 

Looking at all the stuff in my room, I really wonder where the hell are they gonna fit in that house. 

Moving back home from Uni, I chartered a whole cab. 

Moving from Tampines during my 3rd year of flying to my current place, I had to rent a van. 

This time... 

? 

I can foresee all my off days for this month will be planning for this big move, for the upcoming photoshoot and the invitation cards. 

Thankfully, my Taipei itinerary has been planned! 

Day 1

It's the first day of the 8th lunar month today!! 

On the start of this awesome month, I will gift mooncakes to my in-laws. 

The bags of mooncakes have been in my room for days because Chinese customs says you can't give mooncakes during the 7th lunar month.

GONNA SEE BIGBANG!!!!

Yesterday (31st) was the launch of the tickets for their fanmeet in Malaysia. That only 4 members out of the original 5 will be in Malaysia is quite a disappointment but that didn't stop the hundreds of fans camping 2 nights for tickets in Tropicana City mall.
Tickets were to be launched there at 11 am - 3 pm. Online sales start at 3 pm.

Had to rope Markus in to get them tickets.

It was nerve-wrecking especially having seen the massive queue on Facebook. WHAT IF THE AREA I WANTED IS SOLD OUT?

Here's the conversation that went on between Markus and I.

 So at this time... I was on my way to work. I arrived at the airport at 2.59 p.m. Bearing in mind I am not allowed to walk and use the phone while in uniform, I had to quickly find a seat to buy the tickets as soon as it's launched.

 

Can you imagine, I got in at 3:00:01, BUT I COULD NOT BUY IT ON MY PHONE!!!

I was cursing and swearing, and guess what, so was Markus. 

He had taken out all his credit cards but all were rejected. 

He SOS-ed me for a Malaysian credit card so I had to activate Eric to borrow his card details. 

Bless his soul, he immediately messaged Markus the details because the tickets will wait for none.

A few minutes later, while I was already in the briefing room, Markus called to tell me it went through. T____________T

Felt my heart burst as though my child had just taken his first step.

When I arrived back in Singapore a few hours ago, I found out through Facebook that most tickets have been sold including the area I had bought. 

Bigbang is truly massive. And making shitloads of money!
Today is the launch of SG tickets (for their fanmeet a day after Malaysia's) for Citibank cardmembers. I'm guessing most sections will sell out today itself.

Brown shiny bits

Clearing out my wardrobe now to make space for stuff I brought back from home yesterday.
The bottom part of my wardrobe has miscellaneous items - LOTS of extra hand soaps, LOTS of body cream (I go a bit crazy with buying moisturizers), teas, new makeup, forgotten and expired makeup, hair products etc.

While clearing I came across a GAP plastic bag with 4 tubs of Nivea creme (you know it's so hard to get to the bottom of that tub, what was I thinking when I bought so many of that...), I saw among those are room air-fresheners, hand creams, and bits of stufffff..... tiny bits of brown stuff.

When I removed the tubs of Nivea creme, some of that brown stuff were on the aluminum tub. And those brown bits were SHINY. SHIT.

I took out the Nivea tubs and hastily decided that everything else in that bag isn't worth saving anymore. Promptly tied up that bag and binned it. Didn't even want to investigate where those brown bits are from!!!!
This is what I hate about spring cleaning - random crushed brown shiny stuff.

Guy-girl friendship

I'm one with many guy friends. In uni I definitely had more guy friends than girl friends and yes sometimes it's not just as simple as being just friends. Like, yeah we hung out together with a bunch of people then inadvertently someone does a confession and... I wish I'd handled them better. I'm not saying what I know was through only my experience but through what I saw as well.

I definitely know what Christine and Ashley mean, and I also understand where Taylor and Wes are coming from. 

I've been in this same relationship for 4 years and that essentially means just being faithful to one person for this whole time. I've not had to read minds or be afraid of embarrassing confession situations anymore, which by the way, Wes says should not happen because you shouldn't hold your friendship hostage. 

In the past this would make a great 3 hour-long phone conversation between Hsin Ching and I, or a late night conversation between my sisters after the lights go off. I'm so glad, so thankful, I'M OVER THAT. 

No more such headaches, thank god. 

Drunk TOP

I had a Korean colleague travelling on my flight today. She was on her way to meet her batch girl at Interlaken. She's sooooooo pretty ok. 

I will not comment about whether her features are genuine or not but just her skin itself, HER SKIN.... It is so beautiful it can stop traffic. 

When I saw her I told her she's so pretty, in Korean. She laughed and asked how come I know Korean. And then I gave a fan girl squeal and told her I love Bigbang! 

She mentioned YG artistes (including BB) travel a lot with The Company. *jaw drop* 

She mentioned that her seniors (senior Korean colleagues) mentioned that there was once TOP, the super handsome one, was so high onboard he was hugging the stewardesses. Well, info cannot be verified since this is the first time I heard such a thing. On the contrary, I've heard  a lot about how private (or maybe aloof) K-artistes are when the official cameras aren't rolling. 

Anyway back to good skin. 

She said she has seen Soong Joong Ki, that Descedents of The Sun actor, at Incheon airport. She said you can see him from faaaaaar away because he is super fair. Coming from a fair Korean girl, from a country where girls are really fair, whoah.............

Surprise

Pole dancing

My left arm is slightly sore, though the right one is fine.

On Sunday night, we had a hen's night party for Chin Shi. It's a little early but because she doesn't live in Singapore now, we just had to do it at whatever chance we could get.

One of the activities we did was pole dancing. WHOA, our instructor was really fun and hawwwwt. If I could move like her, I am sure I can ask for the stars and the moon from Markus and I WILL GET THEM.



On Sunday I came back from the dreaded flight.... then went for hen's night party and a sleepover. The next day, which was earlier (today), I had my gown selection.

IT WAS INCREDIBLY TIRING T________T

It went on for 7 friggin' hours. My consultant was super patient while I felt bad for her from the 3rd dress onwards. Can you imagine how bad I felt at the 7th hour? Poor girl hadn't even had her dinner, was running up and down to look for dresses. Taking them out and putting these heavy dresses away isn't easy at all.


And the best part is..... the main dress hasn't been decided upon.

This is insane.

My beloved husband aced by being so patient to sit through the 7 hours and giving his 'expert' advise. Not only that, he bought me a small bouquet of flowers before going to the studio because it's gown selection day!!! Happy as a lark.

Now, to sleep sleep and sleep.
Finally, after a whole month of waiting, the time has come for a long flight. It's time to recharge!

Today is Bigbang's 10th anniversary! 

Ideally, I would be on my way now to Seoul attending tomorrow night's concert, which has seen tickets selling at more than $2000 each in the black market. 

Realistically, I'll be flying to ...... ah, my head hurts just thinking about it. 

The last of my exhausting flights this month. MUST. HANG. ON. 

There's no way I can escape this flight. It's stated specifically on my roster that this flight cannot be changed and cannot be disrupted. This happens only once or twice in a financial year... It's just my luck. 

Home

I've been feeling exhausted. Rostering is plain nasty! 

Yesterday, after a really tiring day, it was nice to be at my landing station. 

I had dropped a casserole of food, a meal tray and spilled a cup of water on my tray of drinks. It looked like I was first-month flying. 

I was serving trays the speed of my girl who's been flying for only 2 months. 

Anyway, as the plane approached Changi, the instrumental version of Kit Chan's Home played over the PA. 

So much feels, I tell you. 

I'm sure all the Singaporeans onboard who have been away in dog-eat-dog-HK and coming home felt the same way. It was still playing when the wheels touched down. The crew making the announcement came on the PA only after the song ended. 

Home is really Singapore's other anthem.

I had a bit of time left after dessert (Zumbo!). I told my aunt it's been a while since I went to the Harbour Bridge and Opera house, so we took a walk there in the most beautiful weather.

The sun was also beginning to set and I fell in love.... 

Feel so blessed in so many ways.

His idea of tucking one to sleep

My idea of being tucked to sleep: lying in bed and then having someone gently pull the duvet over me and wishing me goodnight. 

His idea of tucking me to sleep: "do you want the duvet? Ok." Proceeds to lift the entire duvet off the bed while standing at the foot of the bed, and with one huge flip, lets the duvet fall nicely on me like I was a part of the bed. 

Happens every time I take a nap at his place. 

I'm not complaining, just that this is so different from what I always thought it would be since I was a child. 

It's ok though. The part where he leaves the room and turns off the lights... That's as I dreamed it would be. :)

Was in China for 24 hours. 

Since I am communicating with a private driver for my upcoming holiday to Taipei, I thought I should do up the entire itinerary for the trip. 

I am clueless about Taipei. I don't know what the attractions are and where to go. Since there's no Google in China, I could only rely on Bing. 

There were a few things I needed advice on, such as the average price of private drivers there because I had a small feeling that I was paying more than market rate. 

Then I noticed something: My results from the same few sites kept coming up for all my enquiries. Tripadvisor kept popping up - seriously did I miss the news where Microsoft bought up Tripadvisor? 

My conclusion of Bing: if I had to rely on it as a student in uni, i wouldn't be able to graduate. 

HOPELESS. 

I feel lousy

Suchhhhhhh an easy flight. It's a Motherland flight and I will do this flight ANY DAY. Pax are so easy. 

But today my flight... So much politicking. And it involves one of my crew. His work is good and he actually is very helpful, to me at least. 

All the other 21 crew were talking behind his back. 

If he wants to tell tall tales it's his problem. His boasting didn't hurt his service towards passengers, didn't hurt his efficiency at work and I don't think it should hurt the feelings of other crew. 

How does their talking behind his back make them any better than he is.....

They actually gathered in groups to talk about him. That disgusts me. 

I felt so much pressure to talk about him because every galley I went to, people were talking about him. When they saw me, they wanted to know what I thought of him. I know they just wanted me to join the gossip. 

I'm sorry but he's a really good worker. He is my subordinate. I feel responsible for him and I had to make sure he got the recognition for his hard work too. So while people gossiped about him, I told people who cared to listen his work is good and he is the first ever person to make me inflight poached eggs that weren't overdone. 

All that, and my superior. The kind of person that he is, the things he says... Two faced. No respect for this kinda person. 

I hardly ever feel so lousy inside after a flight. 

So so so unhappy. :(

The most dangerous first world country to play Pokemon Go

Amsterdam, no doubt about it. 

It's already hard to avoid the trams and cyclists as it is. Every time I leave the city I count myself lucky without getting into a small accident/receiving some kind of scolding from cyclists who cycle faster than cars.

Took a few photos of the place. The tiles on the floor reminded me of peranakan tiles. The walls had laminate colours that complement the tiles. 

Favourited the photos. Possibly a home improvement project for the future.

The photoshoot is truly near when the MUA and the Digital Artist (he's the one who does the layout of the photo album), who also coincidentally was the guy we signed up our package with, both added me on a social media platform today.

Blood boiling early in the morning because I saw the video of the panic in the plane after it crash-landed in Dubai airport.

PEOPLE WERE RUSHING TO TAKE THEIR LUGGAGE. 

Hello?!

They're DAMN lucky the explosion happened after all passengers had evacuated. In an emergency like this there is no time to take your luggage and evacuate with it. What if people were to die because of these selfish people who couldn't leave their bags behind? 

And in this case, guess who's life will go first? THAT CREW AT DOOR 3! Fuck. Because he/she has to wait for all to evacuate before he/she can jump off the slide. 

In the video you can hear the crew desperately shouting "JUMP! JUMP! LEAVE THE BAGS BEHIND!" 

Nobody heeded.

Disturbs me immensely everytime I hear such things.

But even then, the sick person's food his mum cooked is yummy! And she's always nice to have separate food for me that I like but may not be something he likes/can eat at this time. 

Counting my blessings because my MIL cooks very well! 

Tastes like my mum's cooking too, or even better. 

I'm actually very fussy about "home-cooked" food. Most times I actually don't like the food cooked by people I know. There's even the gag reflex and I normally have to try hard to stomach the food. My MIL's cooking will be a reason why I won't be able to lose any weight prior to the wedding. 

Heart Japan!

In the mid to late 90s, oversized tees were the in-thing. 

Then in the late 90s to early 2000s, it was tight tees and even better if you expose your midriff. 

In the mid 2010s, big-clothes are back wheee!!!! In my books, at least. 

It's ok to be fat again. 

Was in Japan only two weeks ago: bought a lot of clothes and again on this trip. Autumn come quickly or I'll soon be broke. 

P/S: know what I really wanna buy? Those sports jersey dresses. One day. One day.

Totally framed the husband in my latest Facebook post. 

I won't talk about the movie but rather what happened at the movie.

One woman who sat behind me took phone calls TWICE during the movie, and happily chatted through them. 

It's 2016. This kinda basic courtesy at the cinemas she doesn't know??

I'm not kidding that this woman chatted for the next two minutes or so prompting many people, even those from MANY MANY MANY rows in front, to turn around. 

Another embarrassing moment

On the mother of all turnarounds, on the second leg, I had these men who didn't look very decent. 2 of them young, another 2 probably in their 40s. They have the "rusty-face" (Hokkien). The older men wore tight t-shirts, whereas the younger ones wore loose designer t-shirts. 

The younger ones took the first middle row of the cabin. One of the them was more Ah Beng than the other. He's the one I wanna talk about. On ground his two feet were up against the wall at my eye level. The aisle is only that small so when I walked past his seat, I was greeted by his feet. 

He chose not to eat so right after take off, he called me, "Hey! HEYYY!!" Pfft. 

He wanted his bed done so I did it for him. After I had done his bed I caught sight of his diamond-studded RM watch. S$500k maybe? 

I was shocked. I went back to tell my chief if he saw and he said he did. He said they look like dodgy people. 

About 15 minutes after captain made the preparation for landing announcement, I went to the toilet in the front of the cabin. There were no more paper hand towels and I was reluctant to use the disposable hand towels. My hands were maybe only half dry from using facial tissue papers when I stepped out and saw that this dude was still comfortably watching a movie in bed! 

I immediately told him his bed must be converted back to a seat and as I gestured, he wiped something off his forehead. Then I realized it must be a water droplet from my hand that fell on his face. 

I WANTED TO DIE. 

I apologized profusely and assured him it's clean water even though that is bad enough. In that moment I was more afraid of him thinking it's saliva! 

He kept saying it's alright but T____T 

If this had happened in the back streets of Mongkok I think I would lose my hands... 

Depressing

I had a course recently where the trainer, who didn't look more than 50, said that's she's at the age where she attends more funerals than weddings. 

It's so sad to think that one day I'll come to that stage too. I didn't realize how lucky I am to be at the age where I get to attend weddings until now. Weddings over funerals any time. 

Never more willing

Got called up to do the most dreaded turnaround tomorrow. Mother of all turnarounds. But I've never been more willing! Never more willing to take a turnaround than a long flight because FRIDAYYYY is movie day!!! 

Need a black t-shirt with five stripes, pronto!

World domination

The concert - well, I guess I never stood a chance against those hardcore fans. Besides there's an audit flight that coincides with that concert so I can't change away the flight. 

The movie, my ticket is for this Friday. 

I'm really keeping my fingers crossed. I bought the tickets (for Markus and I) even though I'm on standby on Thursday.
